She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 198

Hearing this, Sylvie frowned deeply. "Finn! Miles is our guest! Didn't I explicitly tell you to take good care of him?"

Finn, who was half a head shorter than Miles, trembled violently with every sob. "I *did* take care of him... I let him ride my horse... but he said he had an electric one and that mine was junk... I told him... if he didn't like it, we didn't have to play with it... we could do something else... but he got mad and pushed me..."

The expressions on the Jewell family's faces shifted uncomfortably.

Miles did indeed own an electric rocking horse. In fact, he had several—some at his parents' house and others at the main family estate.

Since this was the first time the two boys had ever met, there was no way Finn could have made that detail up unless Miles had bragged about it himself.

"You're lying!" Sylvie glared fiercely at her little brother. "If Miles pushed you, then how did he end up on the ground too?"

Valery noted that Sylvie wasn't blindly taking her family's side. In fact, she was aggressively defending Miles. Valery's approval of her future daughter-in-law soared even higher.

Faced with his sister's harsh accusation, Finn cried even harder. He raised his arm to wipe his tears, fully exposing the bloody, scraped elbow to the surrounding adults.

"He fell down on his own..."

Miles stopped crying for a second. His eyes went wide, and he transformed into a furious little wildcat. Pointing a shaking finger at Finn, he shrieked, "You're a liar! You pushed me!"

Terrified, Finn shrank back, burying his face into Elinor's shoulder. "I didn't... he pushed me so hard that he lost his balance on the horse and fell over... I swear I didn't push him..."

Finn's wails grew even more tragic as he looked desperately toward the Jewell family. "My sister told me to take care of him... I always listen to her... I would never dare bully him..."

So it was incredibly likely that exactly what Finn described had happened—Miles had looked down on the wooden toy, refused to compromise, and shoved Finn out of sheer frustration when Finn tried to intervene.

Even though Miles was young, he could feel the shift in the air. The way the adults were looking at him had changed.

Even his beloved grandmother and aunt were looking at him with doubt in their eyes.

"I didn't! He's lying!" Miles screamed, his eyes bloodshot with rage. "You pushed me! You're a bad kid! I'm gonna beat you up!"

"Ah! Keep him away!"

Faced with Miles's unhinged fury, Finn shrieked in terror and scrambled even deeper into Elinor's arms.
