She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 241

Sylvie's eyes darkened. Others might be in the dark about Hulda's true identity, but she knew.

She knew Hulda was actually the Director of the R&D Center who held the fate of Herbert's company in her hands. She knew Hulda's status in the scientific community eclipsed her own by a mile.

But the Jewell family couldn't find out—especially not now, when she had just secured her position as Herbert's wife.

Initially, she worried Herbert might reveal Hulda's true identity to his family.

But she soon realized that he seemed to avoid bringing Hulda up in front of them at all costs.

Whatever his reasons, his silence worked to her advantage, and she certainly wasn't going to rock the boat.

No one wanted to keep the real Hulda a secret from the Jewells more than she did.

Watching Cora hurl increasingly venomous insults to provoke Hulda, Sylvie grew genuinely terrified that Hulda might snap and spill everything. She quickly put on a smile to smooth things over.

"Alright, Cora, that's enough. Hulda is Miles's biological mother, after all. For his sake, let's not make things difficult for her."

Cut off mid-rant, Cora rolled her eyes. "Sylvie, you're way too soft-hearted. You don't need to be polite to someone like her."

Sylvie cursed inwardly but maintained her perfectly polite smile. She tugged at Cora's arm, shaking her head to signal her to drop it.

Then, she turned a warm smile on Hulda. "Herbert is joining us soon for a family dinner. Why don't you come along? We all know each other, and Miles hasn't seen you in so long."

"Sylvie! Why are you inviting her?!" Cora protested loudly, her hostility blatant after Hulda had just talked back to her. "Nobody in our family likes her. If she comes, dinner will be ruined!"
