She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 291

Desmond nodded repeatedly, deeply moved. "Alright, if you need anything at all, just let me or Zane know. Don't hesitate to ask."

"Will do," Caspian was the first to agree.

Only then did Hulda realize that Caspian was also staying at the project guesthouse for the night.

Which meant the sounds she'd sleepily registered last night weren't a hallucination—it really had been him!

As night fell, Hulda finished washing up and stepped out onto the small balcony alone to look at the moon.

It was a little habit she had whenever she couldn't sleep. In the past, she used to watch the moon from the window of her study.

Looking up at the night sky, she couldn't help but think of the car that used to drive past that very window almost every single night.

She wondered if that car would pass by on that same road tonight, and if its headlights would illuminate her window once again.

Just then, the door to the adjacent balcony opened. Caspian stepped out, dressed in a set of dark blue silk pajamas.

The top was casually unbuttoned halfway down his chest, giving him a languid, effortlessly magnetic vibe. The subtle, tantalizing glimpse of his toned chest radiated a quiet sort of temptation.

He stepped out onto the small balcony, which seemed exceptionally cramped against his tall, broad-shouldered frame.

The two balconies were so close together that Hulda could actually smell his body wash.

She glanced at him but didn't say a word.

Since she remained silent, he did too.

For a moment, the two of them just stood there in the quiet night. The only sound was the endless buzzing of mosquitoes swarming around them.

Finally, Hulda broke the silence. "Caspian, why are you really here?"

Smack!

Caspian brought a heavy hand down on his own neck, obliterating a mosquito.

"Community outreach and local development," he said in a low, serious voice.
