She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 294

Beside her, Finn continued to cry softly, sounding terribly wronged. "Tomorrow, I'll use my own allowance to buy Miles lots and lots of chocolate milk..."

Seeing the boy acting so self-sacrificing, Callie sighed in sympathy. She scooped Finn up into her arms and turned back to Miles. "Enough of this nonsense, go back to bed. You have to be up early tomorrow."

With that, she carried Finn out of the kitchen, whispering gentle comforts to him as they walked away.

Miles stood frozen in the middle of the kitchen, staring blankly as his nanny carried Finn off.

He felt an awful, hollow ache in his chest. He knew it wasn't just about the milk, but he didn't know how to explain why it hurt so much.

Right now, all he wanted was for someone to hug him. To comfort him. Just like Callie was holding Finn...

"Sylvie..."

The thought of Sylvie brought a glimmer of hope. She would definitely comfort him.

Without a second thought, he ran out of the kitchen and hurried up the stairs.

He stopped at her door and knocked, just like he always used to.

"Sylvie... Sylvie..."

He felt so wronged and so sad. All he wanted was her warm embrace.

In the past, whenever he knocked on her door, she would open it immediately and pull him into a hug.

But tonight, he knocked several times, and the door remained firmly shut. Nobody came to open it.

Miles wiped away the tears that were now spilling down his cheeks and reached for the handle, only to find it wouldn't turn.

That was when he realized she had locked it from the inside. He couldn't get in.

"Sylvie..." he whimpered, knocking a few more times.

Still, there was no response.

He stood alone in the dark, silent hallway, feeling entirely lost.

Why was she ignoring him?

Why did his nanny not believe him anymore?
