She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 315

Before anyone could react, Brenda reached out and violently yanked Dr. Lynch by the arm—the oldest and frailest of the group.

Caught off guard, Dr. Lynch stumbled and nearly hit the dirt before Caleb caught him.

"What is your problem, lady?! Keep your hands to yourself!" Dr. Lynch barked, as he and Caleb pushed her back.

Stumbling back two steps, Brenda shot a venomous glare at Hulda. "What is wrong with you, girl?! You're just gonna stand there and let these thugs bully your future mother-in-law?! My Julian begged me for days before I finally agreed to come out here and officially claim you. Don't be ungrateful! The Thorne family has very high standards for a wife!"

"The Thorne family?" Hulda repeated quietly. She met the woman's crazy gaze with icy composure. "I don't know you. I don't know who your son is, and I am certainly not marrying into your family. If this is a misunderstanding, I am happy to clear it up right now. But if you're here to deliberately harass and defame me, I will escalate this to the town officials and call the police."

The crowd fell dead silent. Seeing Hulda's stone-cold expression, they realized she wasn't bluffing.

"Mrs. Thorne, are you sure you got the right girl? She says she doesn't know you or your son."

"Yeah, I didn't think this made sense! I saw her weeks ago, way before your son even moved back. She's here for a government project. Why would she suddenly be marrying your boy?"

"Desmond warned us about this! We live in a modern society now. You can't just kidnap a girl and force her into marriage anymore. You'll go to jail for that!"

Brenda's face cycled rapidly between purple and ghostly white. "What do you idiots know?! She is my daughter-in-law! My son said so! He said she's crazy about him!"
