She really didn't understand. Caspian Sterling was the CEO of Trident Corporation. Didn't he have his own work to do?
Abby pursed her lips, wanting to say more, but Dr. Lynch pulled her away.
"Jeez, Dr. Lynch, why are you dragging me?" Abby asked, confused.
Dr. Lynch looked at her clueless expression, feeling a bit frustrated with her density. "I mean, Abby, are you truly oblivious, or just playing dumb?"
"Oblivious to what?" She hadn't noticed anything. All she saw was that the CEO seemed to have a lot of free time and was incredibly annoying.
Dr. Lynch was speechless. "Can't you see that the relationship between Mr. Sterling and our Director Atherton is anything but ordinary?"
"Not ordinary?" Abby blinked. She did know that Hulda and Caspian had known each other for a while. She had been there during the resort incident, too.
Whatever history existed between the CEO and the director was private, so it wasn't her place to ask.
But she didn't see anything "not ordinary." All she saw was that Hulda found Caspian extremely annoying. And right now, she was just as annoyed with him as ever.
At first, she had suspected that Caspian might be Hulda's toxic ex who had played with her feelings, which would explain why Hulda couldn't stand the sight of him.
But the director had gotten married years ago, and her son was already six.
So, Abby had dismissed that theory.
Her final conclusion was that Hulda found Caspian annoying simply because he was an annoying person.
"It's definitely not ordinary," Dr. Lynch continued. "The rest of us can see it plain as day. Mr. Sterling came all this way specifically for Director Atherton. Otherwise, when have you ever seen a massive corporate boss drop his work for this long just to do charity?"
