She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 334

"Come on now, have I visited your house so rarely over the years?" Desmond asked. It was true; he frequently brought people to help Mrs. Gable. They would always bring food and supplies and help tidy up her place.

But every time they finished cleaning, Mrs. Gable would turn the house into a garbage dump again the very next day.

Desmond and the others were at their wits' end about it.

As for money, Desmond had helped her apply for subsidies and sometimes even gave her cash out of his own pocket. But there wasn't much extra to go around.

For one, their area was heavily impoverished, so they didn't have spare funds to sponsor others.

Secondly, outsiders used to come around constantly to demand Mrs. Gable pay off her debts. It had gotten a bit better over the last couple of years, not quite as extreme as before, but it used to be a nightmare.

Raising Katherine all on her own, Mrs. Gable simply couldn't hold onto any money.

Desmond gestured for Hulda to step forward. "Chief Consultant Atherton and I came over because we want to discuss something with you regarding Katherine."

"Katherine?" Mrs. Gable tensed, her grip on the child tightening. "Katherine is my granddaughter! No one is taking her away from me, not unless I'm dead!"

Seeing her get so worked up, Desmond quickly tried to calm her down. "Don't panic. Let Chief Consultant Atherton explain."

He looked over at Hulda.

Hulda had indeed considered adopting Katherine, but she knew it was an impossible dream.

As the child of Mrs. Gable's late son, Katherine was the sole bloodline of the family's next generation. There was no way Mrs. Gable would let her leave.

Since Mrs. Gable was Katherine's sole legal guardian, no one could take the child away without her consent.

Hulda had also considered taking Katherine to Aldercy City just for school and living arrangements, and she would have even brought Mrs. Gable along to be cared for if she was willing.

But given the current situation, Mrs. Gable's intense hostility meant she would absolutely refuse.
