She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 340

In the dining room, Callie was enjoying a rare, quiet evening to herself.

She had just finished making a bowl of noodles and hadn't even taken her first bite when she heard a commotion at the front door.

She hurriedly put down her fork and went out, but before she even reached the entryway, she heard Miles's piercing, screechy crying.

Callie's brow instinctively furrowed, a wave of irritation sweeping over her.

As she approached the door, she saw a furious Herbert storming inside, aggressively dragging a violently sobbing Miles behind him.

The man's grip was harsh as he yanked Miles by the upper arm, hauling him into the house. He completely ignored the boy's hysterical crying and the way his tiny body stumbled unsteadily under the forceful pulling.

Sure enough, just a few steps in, Miles lost his footing and stumbled hard onto his knees.

Thud. The heavy sound echoed clearly in Callie's ears.

"Oh my, sir, what are you doing? He's just a little boy!" No matter how annoyed Callie was, seeing Miles like this tugged at her heart. After all, she had watched the child grow up.

With that, she reached out to pick Miles up, but Herbert blocked her with a freezing glare.

"Callie, stay out of this." His voice wasn't loud, clearly still fighting to maintain a shred of control. But bubbling just beneath that restraint was a towering, boiling rage.

Frightened by Herbert's demeanor, Callie froze, her outstretched hand hovering awkwardly in mid-air.

Just then, Sylvie walked in, leading a red-eyed Finn. Callie quickly looked at her. "Syl... ma'am, what happened?"

Weren't they supposed to be having dinner at his boss's house?

Why were they back so soon?

The whole family had been perfectly fine when they left, so why...

Did the young master do something terribly wrong at the boss's house?

Sylvie merely glanced at Callie without answering. Instead, she stepped forward and spoke to Herbert in a soft, soothing voice. "Herbert, please don't be like this. I'm sure Miles knows what he did wrong by now."
