This wasn't the first or second time the boy had bullied and framed Finn. She couldn't keep covering for him anymore. It was time for his father to teach him a proper lesson so he'd remember; otherwise, who knew how he'd turn out?
Herbert saw that Miles remained entirely unrepentant. He raised his hand and smacked it hard against the back of Miles's hand, which was pointing right at Finn.
Smack!
Miles's hand instantly turned bright red.
He shrieked, clutching his stinging hand, and wailed miserably. "Dad, you hit me again..."
"You refuse to admit your mistakes. You deserve to be hit!" Herbert roughly yanked at his shirt collar, unable to suppress the violent frustration boiling inside him.
He couldn't remember how many times he had lost control of his emotions recently, and he couldn't understand why.
Why was he always so irritable? Why was his life in such a constant state of chaos? Why did he have to deal with one maddening crisis after another?
The pent-up emotions of the past few days, combined with the sheer humiliation of being kicked out by Director Chambers today, clogged his chest. It completely stripped away his usual gentle, refined demeanor, leaving him radiating a heavy, volatile aggression.
"Mr. Jewell, please calm down. Miles is still little. You can explain things to him slowly, and he'll understand." Sylvie walked over, first soothing Herbert before turning a gentle gaze to the boy. "Our Miles is the most well-behaved and understanding boy, isn't that right?"
"No! No!" Miles pushed away the hand Sylvie extended toward him. "You're lying! You saw everything! You saw I wasn't the one who broke the trophy. You saw it, so why are you lying? You're a liar, and I don't like you anymore!"
Being scolded and hit by his dad wasn't even the hardest part.
What shattered him the most was that the woman he trusted and loved the most would actually lie to frame him.
She had clearly seen everything. She had seen Finn holding the trophy, and she had seen Finn intentionally smash it onto the floor.
