Caspian looked down at her. "Are you telling me what to do, Director Atherton?"
Hulda rolled her eyes. "I don't have the time to boss you around."
Without looking back, she walked out of the town office. She had a new cell tower to work on today!
Standing a short distance away, Dylan saw the whole exchange clearly.
He had every reason to believe his boss's 'Are you telling me what to do?' wasn't a threat, but a genuine question.
If Ms. Atherton actually did command him, his boss would undoubtedly act like a grumpy but entirely obedient border collie, muttering complaints while executing the order immediately.
Oh, boss. When are you ever going to drop the tough act?
He'd been putting up a stubborn front since the very first day he met her, and he was still doing it. Yet, he hadn't skipped a single beat when it came to caring for her and doing things for her behind the scenes.
"Boss..." Dylan walked over. "Are you still going to wait at her work site today?"
They could easily assign someone else to keep an eye on her, but the boss insisted on going personally...
"When did I say I was waiting for her? What nonsense are you talking about?" Caspian walked out of the town office courtyard with a stoic expression. He stepped into the guesthouse yard, barely made it five meters, and then turned right back around and left.
Dylan stayed exactly where he was, watching his boss enter the yard, leave it, and then head straight in the direction of Hulda's new cell tower.
"Heh, I knew it." Dylan's lips twitched. He looked down at Caspian's phone, which had been left in his care.
The screen showed the fifth missed call from Chairman Bertram Sterling. Anxiety prickled in Dylan's chest.
Trident Corporation simply couldn't function without the boss right now, and the Chairman's calls were becoming frantic.
Then there was the situation in the South Seas, where things had been volatile lately. The poor signal in the mountains meant they couldn't monitor the situation in real-time.
The boss's time here was running out...
Sigh.
