He hurriedly finished his sentence, stood up, and strode away. He moved so fast he bumped the table and knocked over a water glass, but he didn't care.
Hearing that Miles was missing, panic washed over Sylvie's face. She rushed after him, trying to soothe him. "It's okay, he's probably just acting out and sneaked off to play somewhere. If we look properly, we'll find him. Let's head home first and ask Callie exactly what happened."
When Herbert and Sylvie arrived at the villa, Valery and Wade were already there, along with a haggard-looking Cora.
Cora's life had been miserable lately. She had just blown a fortune on a limited-edition handbag when the allowance scandal broke. Now, Herbert had completely cut off her funds, and Valery and Wade refused to give her a dime.
Aside from a closet full of designer bags and jewelry, she had nothing left.
She was trapped at home with nowhere to go, forced to endure her parents' sour moods.
And Cora wasn't the only one suffering.
Valery, a social butterfly, hadn't attended a single gathering since the incident at the Go Academy. She didn't even need to show up to know exactly how her social circle was mocking her.
Wade was dealing with even worse headaches. Any hope of winning the Master's Cup was entirely destroyed. Investors and sponsors were breathing down his neck constantly, and he was exhausted from putting out fires.
The entire Jewell family felt like it was suffocating in an endless state of crisis.
And right in the middle of it all, their most precious child had vanished.
