"Get in if you're coming, or stay here if you aren't," Herbert snapped. His entire mind was consumed with Miles's safety, leaving zero patience for her antics.

Sylvie's face tightened as she quickly slid into the passenger seat. "Of course I'm coming. I'm worried about Miles, too."

The hospital Miles had been taken to was located in the far suburbs of Aldercy City.

In the back seat, Hulda stared at the glowing map on the GPS dashboard, her brows pulling together. "Why did he run off this far?"

That location was so far out it was practically past the city limits.

How could a six-year-old boy wander that far away on his own?

Herbert had obviously noticed the exact same thing, his grip tightening around the steering wheel.

Usually, in emergencies, ambulances rushed patients to the nearest available hospital based on their condition.

That meant Miles had to have been somewhere near that suburban hospital when the accident happened.

But he was just a six-year-old kid who was chauffeured absolutely everywhere. He didn't even know his way around their own neighborhood, so how could he possibly end up way out there?

"We'll ask the police once we get there," Herbert said tightly, glancing at Hulda through the rearview mirror.

In the passenger seat, Sylvie clutched her seatbelt with both hands, pressing her lips together as she watched Herbert repeatedly check on Hulda in the mirror.

When they finally rushed into the hospital, Miles was still inside the operating room.
