She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 104

The back-and-forth tugging jolted a groggy Shera awake.

She blinked at the man in front of her, then looked up at Rhys, whose arms were still wrapped securely around her.

She stammered, "Caden... what are you doing here?"

Caden's lips pressed into a tight, hard line.

She didn't seem surprised that Rhys was holding her, but she was surprised to see him?

"Shera, you..."

"Hey, I've got her, I've got her!"

Xenia, who had been watching the drama unfold from the window, saw that Shera was awake and rushed out the door.

She was terrified the two men would start throwing punches and get blood all over Shera.

"Come on, Shera, let's get you inside."

She stepped between them, pulling her friend away, and then glanced at the two men, who looked ready to kill each other.

"You guys... carry on. Don't mind me."

Jealousy was common, but a full-blown showdown? That was rare.

She absolutely lived for these messy, high-stakes love triangles.

Especially when both guys looked like they had stepped right out of a magazine.

"Hey, what are you guys..."

Shera started to speak, but Xenia clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her inside before she could finish.

The front door clicked shut, and silence fell over the yard once more.

Caden adjusted his cuffs and offered a warning. "You're a man of status in Aurelia City, Mr. Jewell."

Rhys pushed his glasses up his nose. "And your point is?"

He asked, "How long do you plan on using that nearly expired marriage license as leverage?"

A nearly expired marriage license.

Caden let out a cold scoff, glancing up at the lights that had flickered on upstairs.

Through the window, two silhouettes were clearly visible, spying on the scene below.

"I heard your father, Hector, is arranging a marriage for you with the Stratton Family from Port City. Does he know you're busy trying to ruin someone else's marriage?"

Rhys slowly ran his thumb over the ring on his knuckle.

"The Sinclair family doesn't know about Shera yet. But if you think your life is a little too peaceful right now, be my guest and tell them."

With that, he turned and got back into his car.

Caden's voice dripped with irritation. "Give them to her? Why should I? If she doesn't have a place to stay, she can sleep on the street."

"Oh."

Rhys...

He asked, "Is Jewell Group planning to partner with Rathmore Holdings soon?"

Aiken thought for a moment before nodding. "Yes."

Caden's eyes narrowed dangerously as his fingers tapped against the car window. "Let's go."

—

Rhys leaned back against the leather seat, his composure cracking.

How did Caden know about Hector arranging a marriage with the Strattons?

He had completely locked down all information coming out of Port City. It shouldn't have leaked.

The Sinclair family... an arranged marriage...

A name flashed through his mind.

Vivienne.

Rhys's hands curled into tight fists, his voice icing over. "Turn the car around. We're going to Timberwood Estates."
