He was completely hopeless.
Solomon sighed, lazily turning the brooch over in his hands.
"Ouch."
A sharp prick of pain dug into his finger.
"What the hell is this?"
Solomon frowned, flipping the brooch over.
Right behind the metal backing, a tiny sliver of metal was sticking out.
He looked at it in confusion. "Since when did luxury brands start making such cheap crap?"
But looking closely, it didn't seem like part of the brooch. Was it added later?
He pinched the piece of metal with his fingernails and gave it a gentle tug.
A device smaller than a fingernail slid out, connected to two wires thinner than human hair.
At the very end was a flat, circular disc.
He held the tiny object between his fingers, falling silent for two seconds.
Could this be...

Shera stormed through the interior of the ship, simmering with anger.
There was a buffet in the corner of the first floor. She walked over, expression still icy, and grabbed a few slices of bread to munch on.
She planned on wandering around later to see if she could bump into Felipa.
Originally, Rhys had managed to secure an invitation for Xenia so they could go together.
But Xenia's grandfather had called to say her uncle was coming home for the weekend and they were having a family dinner, so the plan fell through.
She scanned the room, watching the guests chatting in small groups.
Suddenly, a warm, gentle voice spoke right next to her.
"We meet again."
Shera looked up and saw a figure in a white suit.
The face looked familiar.
It looked like...
"Do you remember me?"
Shera suddenly remembered. "I think you mentioned last time that your mother works in the same industry as us."
Pearce nodded. "Yes. She was invited tonight and thought it'd be a good way to support the charity."
He looked at her, his voice soft. "If you're interested, I'd love to introduce you two."
"Since you're in the same field, you'll probably have a lot to talk about."
Shera nodded eagerly. That was exactly what she had been hoping for.
Since he was being so polite, she properly introduced herself.
"My last name is Jewell. My first name is Shera. Just Shera is fine."
Pearce gave a soft smile. "Nice to meet you, Shera."
Shera leaned her arms on the table. "You mentioned before that your mother is an expert in traditional silk embroidery. Funny enough, I'm actually here tonight trying to meet a master embroiderer."
"Really? What a coincidence. My mother specializes in traditional silk embroidery too."
He glanced up, caught sight of someone walking toward them, and quickly waved.
"Mom, over here!"
