She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 111

Isn't that...

"Felipa?"

Shera gasped. She hadn't expected to run into Felipa Pembroke just like that.

Hearing her call out, Pearce, standing to the side, looked equally surprised.

"Ms. Jewell, you know my mother?"

Shera nodded eagerly, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "I came here specifically to see her."

It finally clicked in her head. Dr. Pembroke shared the same last name.

He was Felipa's son.

Felipa approached them. Dressed in a dark damask silk gown paired with an emerald-green cardigan, she exuded an innate, timeless elegance.

Shera quickly stepped forward to greet her respectfully. "Hello, Ms. Pembroke. I'm Shera Jewell. I'm not sure if you still remember me."

Meeting a titan of the industry inevitably brought a flush to Shera's cheeks.

Felipa looked at her, seemingly searching her memory before speaking up.

"Ah, it's you. Yes, I remember you. From the competition last time, right?"

Hearing that she was remembered, Shera couldn't stop the corners of her lips from turning up.

She nodded repeatedly. "Yes, exactly! I can't believe you remember me."

Felipa smiled. "I reviewed your sketches back then. They left a deep impression on me. You're a very gifted young woman."

She looked Shera up and down. "To think you not only have such great talent but are also this beautiful."

Flustered by the praise, Shera smiled modestly. "You flatter me. I still have so much to learn."

Felipa's gaze shifted between her and Pearce. "Are you two...?"

Terrified that Felipa might think she had used her son to get close to her, Shera rushed to explain.

"Ms. Pembroke, Dr. Pembroke and I only met a few days ago. I just found out he was your son."

Felipa chuckled softly and patted Shera's shoulder.

"Don't be nervous, Shera. I was just curious, that's all."

Shera...

Hearing her idol use her first name so affectionately made Shera blush all over again.

Figuring that Shera had come all this way to speak with her and likely had much to discuss, Felipa noted how noisy the hall was and suggested they head upstairs to a private lounge.

Shera hesitated briefly. "If it's not too much of an imposition."

Tonight...

An auction, networking—what exactly was worth her spying on?

He rubbed the small device, his expression turning terrifyingly dark.

Could it be...

Taking a deep breath, he looked at Solomon. "Let's not blow this up just yet. We act like we don't know."

Caden set aside the feather brooch and pinned his usual gemstone lapel pin back onto his suit.

He wanted to see exactly what she was plotting.

He shoved the bug into Solomon's hand. One look, and his friend understood immediately.

Solomon flashed an 'OK' sign.

Just as the two stepped out of the room, they bumped into Helga at the corner of the corridor.

She sneakily glanced at Caden's collar before stepping forward.

"Caden, the auction is about to start. Shall we head down?"

It was an incredibly subtle look, but Caden caught it effortlessly.
