She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 118

"Caden, don't make me disgusted by you even more."

She shot one last, long glare at the two of them before walking away.

Solomon arrived just in time to witness the aftermath—the blood on Caden's lip, the stinging red mark on his face.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what had just happened.

Shera brushed right past him. He called out, "Mrs. Hayes... you..."

But Shera completely ignored him, storming down the corridor with a dark expression.

Only after she had vanished did Helga dare to approach.

Her fingers trembled, too afraid to touch him. "Caden, your face."

His cheek was already swelling red; she had obviously slapped him with everything she had.

He stood perfectly still, his eyes entirely unfocused, clearly still reeling from what had just unfolded.

"What the hell happened?" Solomon frowned, looking at the man in front of him.

How did he end up battered and bleeding after just a few minutes out of sight?

"Damn, she hit you hard."

Caden slowly straightened up, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.

He didn't look at either of them. He didn't say a single word.

He simply walked away in dead silence.

Watching his desolate figure retreat, Solomon couldn't help but shake his head.

"It's true what they say. Even the greatest heroes stumble over a beautiful woman."

"But we've got to put some ice on that! Wait up, Caden!"

With that, he jogged after his friend.

Leaving Helga completely alone on the terrace. Her lips trembled slightly, uncontrollable rage brewing in her eyes.

She had never seen Caden look so utterly broken.

So... he really had fallen in love with her?

Shera, what right do you have?

Her fingers dug viciously into the jadeite bracelet, gripping it so tightly she almost shattered the beads.

—

Shera wandered through the ship's massive corridors. Perhaps blinded by pure fury, she took a few wrong turns and ended up completely lost.

She scowled, her face stormy.

Just her luck. Every time she ran into Caden, it was a total disaster.

That bastard.

She leaned against the wall, shaking out her foot.

Wait, why was her name being brought into this?

The Stratton family, Willow Stratton...

What exactly were they talking about?

Rhys always kept his lips sealed about the Sinclair family in Port City. Was there some kind of secret going on?

He had family on the ship, yet he hadn't mentioned a word about it, choosing to use a client as an excuse instead.

Shera nodded slowly to herself. This was definitely highly suspicious.

Rhys said something else, followed by the woman's laughter.

"I know. But you don't have to treat me so coldly every time. It hurts my feelings, you know."

Shera frowned. Why did that voice sound so familiar? Like she had heard it somewhere before.

There were rustling sounds from inside, making it hard to hear.

Fueled by her inner gossip, Shera took two steps closer.

"Miss, do you need any assistance?"

The sudden voice from behind nearly gave Shera a heart attack.

The voices inside the cabin instantly stopped. Then, the sound of footsteps approaching the door.

The handle turned, and in the next second, the cabin door swung open.
