He shoved the glass into Caden's hand. "There's a saying: breaking your wife's heart is easy, but the agonizing road to groveling for her forgiveness is pure hell."
"So, let's toast to the bumpy road of winning her back."
Solomon clinked his glass against Caden's and tossed his drink back.
He turned his head, only to see the man beside him completely frozen in the same position.
He stared at him, guessing, "Caden, don't tell me you're trying to dodge a drink?"
He leaned in a bit closer. "You didn't actually get scared into crying by what I just said, did you?"
"Caden? Caden?"
Caden's eyes were squeezed shut, his teeth violently biting down on his lower lip. His breathing was heavy, and a layer of cold sweat had broken out across his forehead.
"Are you actually crying?"
Solomon pulled his hand away, finally noticing that something was seriously wrong with his complexion. His cheeks were flushed, but his lips were deathly pale.
He was desperately trying to hold something back.
"Stomach... my stomach hurts."
"What?"
His voice was incredibly weak, and since Solomon was a bit buzzed, he didn't quite catch it at first.
"My stomach hurts!"
Caden practically roared the words. Solomon jolted in shock, the alcohol fog in his brain instantly evaporating.
"Stomach, stomachache."
He suddenly remembered Caden had chronic stomach issues.
He glanced at the glass that had fallen to the floor—it had to be the liquor he downed earlier.
He scrambled to his feet and threw on his jacket.
"Caden, come on, I'm taking you to the hospital."
He hauled him up, but whether from the crippling stomach pain or the alcohol finally kicking in, Caden swayed heavily.
Solomon draped him over his shoulder, dialing his phone while yanking the door open.
"Bring the car around. We're going to the hospital."
Caden felt nauseous from being dragged. He weakly pushed Solomon away, pressing the elevator button with one hand while clutching his stomach with the other.
"Pull up to the side entrance."
