“Baby, Rosalie Kerr is dead.”
“What?”
In the hospital room, Shera Jewell was cross-checking her studio's orders when Xenia Denton walked through the door.
“Yeah, she got into a car crash on Wednesday afternoon. She was being transported to Southside Detention Center when a cement truck lost its brakes and slammed into them. The car caught fire on the spot.”
Hearing this, it would be a lie to say Shera wasn't completely stunned.
She herself had been injured in a car crash, and now Rosalie had died in one.
“Is this what they call karma?”
Shera looked at Xenia. “What do the reports say?”
“They officially ruled it an accident.”
Xenia handed her phone to Shera, showing her the news article.
“She got what she deserved, but it's a tragedy that she had to drag three innocent lives down with her.”
Shera swiped through the article. The comments section seemed normal, mostly filled with people mourning the three officers who were in the car.
“Chester Coleman said that since the defendant died during the trial, the case will be dismissed.”
“As for the damages, aside from what the insurance covers, the rest will be sought from Rosalie's heir.”
“But it doesn't look like she has any family left. Those wealthy backers of hers completely dropped her after the false accusation incident last time.”
Shera backed out of the article and handed the phone back to Xenia.
“Well, nothing we can do about it. Who could have guessed she'd die so suddenly? If Mr. Coleman said so, it's a done deal.”
“I suppose she finally paid the price for everything she did.”
Taking a deep breath, Shera only added, “I just hope she doesn't carry such malicious intent into her next life.”
“Oh, right.” Xenia suddenly remembered something and pulled a key from her bag.
“I ran into Caden Hayes's assistant downstairs. He dropped this off.”
