She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 164

“Who knows.”

“Are you absolutely sure he won't break a perfectly good pipe?”

Shera let out a soft huff. “Did you see him go in there with a wrench?”

“Tsk, tsk.” Xenia shook her head, looking in that direction. “Looks like someone is just trying to make his presence known.”

Caden stayed in the bathroom for nearly half an hour. Shera was starting to wonder if he had dropped dead in there.

It wasn't until the savory aroma of dinner filled the air that he slowly strolled out.

His tone was perfectly flat. “It's fixed. You can use it now.”

Shera smiled tightly as she carried the plates to the dining table. “Thanks, Mr. Hayes. Next time something like this happens, I'll just call maintenance. No need to trouble yourself.”

Caden raised a slight brow. “It's nothing. Just a small favor.”

He discreetly glanced at the dining table, quickly looked away, and spoke with a probing tone.

“So... should I get going then?”

Shera completely ignored the hopeful glint in his eyes and nodded. “Alright, I'll see you out.”

She untied her apron, hung it on a cabinet knob, and made a move toward the door.

Unexpectedly, Caden pivoted and walked straight into the dining area. “Can you two really finish all this food?”

“You don't need to worry about that.”

“It's not good to waste food, is it? Farmers work very hard to grow these.”

Shera frowned. “We'll finish it. It's getting late, you should head back.”

Watching the scene unfold, Xenia felt so awkward she didn't know where to stand.

Wasn't Caden always supposed to be an unapproachable iceberg? What was wrong with him today?

Had he been possessed?

This was wildly out of character.

Shera had seen right through his intentions ages ago, but she refused to give him an opening.

Instead, she simply pulled the front door wide open. “After you, Mr. Hayes.”

But Caden's skin was evidently much thicker than she had anticipated.

Seeing that she wasn't going to offer, he simply stepped forward, grabbed the bowl of rice Xenia had just served herself, and nodded.
