Due to the recent buzz around the semi-finals, Evegrace had suddenly seen a massive influx of new clients, and the studio staff had been working themselves to the bone lately.
Shera had been pulling overtime for days as well. When Zena walked into her office, she was hunched over her desk, meticulously tweaking a design sketch.
"Shera, I got you a hot latte."
Shera had one hand pressed against her stomach. Seeing her walk in, she managed a weak smile. "Thank you."
Maybe she had drunk too many iced beverages a few days ago, but her cramps were exceptionally brutal this time around.
Noticing her pale complexion, Zena gently suggested, "Shera, why don't you take a break? You look like you're in a lot of pain."
Shera didn't stop drawing. "I'm fine. I just took some painkillers. It'll kick in soon."
Zena nodded and sat across from her, quietly watching as Shera effortlessly sketched out elegant lines on the paper. Her long hair was casually pinned up, with a few loose strands framing her face, giving her an effortless, languid beauty.
It was true what they said—a woman hard at work was the most beautiful.
Shera's features leaned towards a cool, sophisticated elegance. She had stunning bone structure. When she smiled, she was warm and intellectual, but when her face was relaxed, there was a natural, almost intimidating distance about her.
It was exactly the kind of aura that a popular, unapproachable senior girl had in college. That was why, when Zena first started working there, she had been a little afraid of her.
But after spending enough time together, she realized Shera was just someone who was cold on the outside but incredibly warm on the inside. She just wasn't the most naturally outgoing person, which gave her that "ice queen" vibe.
When Zena found out that Shera was actually Mrs. Hayes, she had genuinely been taken aback.
Noticing Zena staring blankly at her, Shera looked up with an amused smile. "What's wrong? Is there something you need?"
Resting her chin in her hands, Zena shook her head. "Nope. I just think you're really gorgeous, Shera."
"Well, if it isn't Shera."
Shera had been looking down, debating between two bottles of laundry scent boosters. Hearing her name, she looked up toward the voice.
Two figures were walking arm-in-arm. The woman who had spoken was dressed in a high-end designer suit, her hair meticulously styled in an elegant updo. Her makeup was flawless and sophisticated, radiating an aura of wealth and aristocratic grace. If not for the faint fine lines around her eyes, no one would have guessed she was already in her fifties.
Standing next to her, dressed in her usual innocent, pristine white aesthetic, was a woman with long, silky hair cascading down her shoulders.
Seeing Shera looking their way, Helga offered a gentle nod. "Ms. Jewell."
Noticing Helga's polite greeting, the wealthy older woman scoffed disdainfully. "She's just a vain, gold-digging woman. Why are you being so polite to her, Helga?"
Hearing the woman's harsh words, Helga pressed her lips together and lowered her voice. "She is Caden's wife, after all. It's only right that I show some courtesy."
