Luther came back in the middle of the night.

Jolie was already asleep.

The man closed his car door behind him.

He noticed a red sports car parked out front.

Poor Wilma had stayed up waiting all this time. Seeing Luther return, she quickly hurried over and whispered, "The new madam has moved in. She also ordered me to throw away all the former madam's clothes. I didn't dare disobey her. Sir, I really couldn't secretly save any of it. She watched me throw them into the trash. If you think I'm no longer suited to work here, I can pack my things and leave."

Luther frowned slightly.

Jolie moved in? They hadn't officially held the wedding yet, and she hadn't even discussed it with him.

This displeased Luther greatly.

Especially since Wilma was a senior member of the household staff.

She had been brought over from Havenworth City by his mother.

Luther quietly reassured Wilma and told her to go to bed.

He walked up the stairs himself, crossed the grand foyer, and made his way to the master bedroom on the second floor.

Pushing the door open.

He was hit with the overwhelming scent of Chanel No. 5.

He used to love it, but having the entire bedroom reeking of it made him feel like he was at a hostess club for a business dinner. He much preferred the fresh, crisp scent of a woman's body wash. It was clean and inviting. The brand Hilda used to use was wonderful.

Thinking of Hilda.

Luther's eyes darkened.

What surprised him was that Jolie was still awake.

She was sitting at the vanity, applying body lotion.

The two scars on her lower abdomen had faded a lot by now.

Jolie didn't want the man to see them and lose the mood when he got worked up.

She knew perfectly well that men were highly visual creatures.

True enough, Luther's gaze landed on her pristine stomach.

A flash of displeasure crossed his eyes.

Jolie pulled her thin silk robe tighter, walked up to him, and draped her arms around his neck, acting coy. "Not happy to see me? Why the long face? Did Wilma complain to you? Yes, I told her to throw my sister's things away! Think about it, Luther, as your current wife, of course I'd care! Besides, Hilda is married into a wealthy family now, she couldn't care less about this old stuff."

Luther looked down at the seductive woman.

Jolie had changed.

Since becoming Mrs. Sanford, she had changed dramatically.
