Two days later.
Naomi attended a high-profile business cocktail party.
Someone had tipped off Jolie about her whereabouts.
While Naomi was exchanging pleasantries and sipping wine, Jolie marched over. Though she had clearly spent hours getting ready, trying to project her usual elite corporate persona, she was a shadow of her former self. Her cheeks were hollow, making her look almost like an addict. The moment she saw Naomi, her voice trembled as she tried to act like old friends. "Naomi, I finally tracked you down."
Naomi was dressed in a stunning one-shoulder black evening gown.
She stared coldly at Jolie and let out a faint scoff.
"Please, spare me."
"You should probably stick to calling me Ms. Zeller."
"Your reputation has been a bit messy lately. I'd prefer to keep my distance."
Naomi played the ruthless corporate game flawlessly.
Jolie's face drained of color. She was clearly choking on the humiliation.
Naomi's tone grew even colder. "If there's nothing else, please excuse me."
Jolie reached out and grabbed her arm, ignoring the strange looks from the surrounding guests. She practically begged, "When we signed the contract, we rushed it. Ms. Zeller, surely you still value basic business integrity?"
Naomi laughed out loud. "Are you out of your mind? Is this my fault? Isn't this happening because you don't actually own the core formula? You wanted to partner with Mokshalia, and you thought you could just bring a few factories and some empty promises to the table? I told you from the very beginning, all I ever wanted was Chantelle Claire's core technology. You should have known that. If you can't produce it, don't blame me for pulling out."
A crowd had started to gather around them.
Jolie was utterly humiliated.
She had never been forced to grovel like this.
Because of Luther, she had always been protected by a halo of invincibility. Everything had always come effortlessly to her. But now, she was on the verge of being discarded, and no one gave a damn about her anymore. Naturally, she wasn't so glamorous without his backing.
Whispers rippled through the onlookers—
[I heard she's refusing to sign the divorce papers.]
[Luther's lawyers have sent the notices four times already.]
[Ha, she's actually waiting for Luther to change his mind.]
