**Chapter 31**
Eloise felt an overwhelming surge of joy, a warmth spreading through her at the thought of her great-granddaughter. She longed to hold Stella close, to feel the connection that only family could provide. With this in mind, she approached Stella with an extra measure of tenderness, treating her with the utmost care and gentleness.
Once the check-ups were concluded, Stella climbed into Eloise’s car without protest. There was an unspoken understanding that this trip back to Sentella Bay was necessary, and she surrendered to it, allowing Eloise to guide her through the familiar landscape.
As they drove, Eloise filled the silence with her thoughts, her voice calm yet purposeful. “You and Tristan are on the brink of becoming parents, my dear. This is a significant moment for both of you. You must remember that you will be together for a long time, and with that comes the responsibility of your role as his wife. Embrace it fully.”
Stella nodded along, her mind swirling with conflicting emotions. “You have to fight for your future,” Eloise continued, her tone firm but encouraging. “A man won’t simply wait around forever for you to figure things out.”
Stella listened intently, her heart heavy with the weight of reality. She hummed softly at appropriate intervals, but inside, her thoughts raced. In the days before she learned of Tristan’s relationship with Audrey, she had allowed herself to dream of a brighter future. They had a child now, a precious bond that could have been the glue to hold their marriage together. But now, the truth loomed over her like a dark cloud—her marriage with Tristan was crumbling, and the future she once envisioned was slipping away.
Eloise’s change of heart regarding Stella seemed solely linked to the baby. In her eyes, Stella was still expected to perform her duties as a devoted wife, maintaining the image of a perfect family. As they drove, Stella pondered the reason behind Eloise’s sudden urgency for a check-up. Had she discovered that Stella had moved out of Sentella Bay? Were there whispers about Tristan’s indiscretions that had reached her ears?
Despite their marriage being a private matter, everyone within their circle was aware of their union. Stella may not have been the ideal match for him, but the truth remained—they were married, and now she bore his child. If rumors about Tristan’s affair with another woman spread, it would undoubtedly tarnish his reputation, and she couldn’t bear the thought of that.
As the car rolled to a stop in front of Sentella Bay, the familiar sight of the villa greeted them. Eloise and Stella stepped out, and Stella’s breath caught in her throat when she spotted Tristan lounging at home instead of being with Audrey. He wore a relaxed outfit of light-colored casual wear, his presence exuding a calm indifference as he reclined on the couch, engrossed in a book. When he noticed Eloise and Stella entering, his handsome features remained impassive, a mask of cool detachment.
Eloise approached him with purpose, handing over the medical report. “Here. Take a look at this,” she instructed, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Stella settled into a chair across from him, her heart racing with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. She observed Eloise closely, her nerves prickling as the silence stretched between them.
Tristan’s gaze fell to the report, his dark eyes icy as he set the book aside. “Lunch is ready. Let’s eat first,” he stated flatly, his voice devoid of warmth.
