She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 132

Lyra popped open the velvet box for one last look. Confirming the ring was there, she handed it to Arthur. "Dad, make sure you explain it properly to Grandpa Alistair."

"I will." Arthur pocketed the box securely and stepped out of the car.

The estate's butler was already waiting by the driveway. He gave a polite nod and escorted him toward the main house.

The interior of the car fell instantly quiet.

Twenty minutes passed.

Lyra was just skimming the final pages of her documents when she heard Vivienne's voice outside. "That's Arthur Fairchild's car."

Lyra peeked out the window. Vivienne and Rowan were walking by, both dressed in casual athletic wear. It looked like they had just finished a round of golf.

She hadn't expected them to be at the estate today.

Thankfully, they hadn't noticed her inside.

Lyra immediately ducked, sliding down low against the leather seats.

"Arthur is just relentless! He's definitely here to complain to Alistair because you brought Jasmine to the wedding yesterday! The man is so stubborn, clinging to a promise from years ago like a lifeline!"

"Rowan, you just need to make your stance clear today, and leave the rest to me. What exactly are your intentions with Jasmine? I will march right in there and lay it all out for your grandfather."

Rowan was silent for a long moment before his steady voice drifted over. "I intend to marry her."

Vivienne burst into laughter. "I never thought I'd see the day you fell so hard."

"I know exactly how suffocating it is to be tied to someone you don't love. Don't worry. With that confirmation, I've got your back completely!"

With that, Vivienne spun around and marched into the main house to find Alistair.

Listening to their fading footsteps, Lyra furrowed her brow.

If her father didn't come out soon, wouldn't they run right into each other?

What if a massive argument broke out?

Lyra instinctively reached for the door handle, but hesitated. She really didn't want to see Rowan's face again.

It was probably better to just stay put in the car.

She sat back up, flipped her folder open, and tried to focus on her reading while she waited for Arthur.

Fortunately, Arthur emerged a few moments later.

On his way out, Arthur had indeed crossed paths with Vivienne.

Seeing her marching toward him with a fiery glint in her eyes, he knew nothing good would come out of her mouth. Unwilling to lose his composure in a petty argument, Arthur simply breezed right past her as if she were invisible.

He gave Rowan a curt, formal nod and kept walking.

His complete dismissal stunned Vivienne. She opened her mouth to yell after him, but Rowan blocked her path, stopping her.

Back in the driveway.

She hadn't even had to say a word. The entire mess was resolved without lifting a finger.

"Well, Rowan, it looks like the Fairchilds pulled the plug..."

Overjoyed for her nephew, she affectionately patted his arm. "Rowan, you are finally free."

She looked at Rowan, surprised to find his expression entirely blank. There wasn't a trace of happiness on his face.

But then she remembered that Rowan had always been a stoic, emotionally distant man.

When he secured his first billion-dollar contract, the entire company had thrown a massive party, but Rowan had reacted with this exact same icy composure.

"Are you happy now?" Vivienne asked gently.

Hearing the question, Rowan realized he didn't feel happy at all.

Still, meeting Vivienne's eager gaze, he gave a stiff nod.

Vivienne beamed. She knew he was thrilled; he was just terrible at showing his emotions.

Suddenly, a thought struck her. "Wait, what about Caspian?"

Alistair glanced at Rowan. "Let them keep dating. They're still young. We'll announce that if they're still going strong after Rowan gets married, we'll give them our blessing. That way, we technically honor our promise to the Fairchilds."

Vivienne scoffed and rolled her eyes. "I knew it. The Fairchilds are still desperate to sink their claws into the Jameson family wealth."
