Chapter 22
Silas asked, “So, what about the proposal I mentioned before? Have you given it any thought?”
Once again, he was extending an olive branch. “I’ve been keeping the position of Chief Legal Counsel open for you. You can name your own salary.”
Name her own salary.
Those words were far too tempting.
Liana’s heart thumped wildly for a few moments, but logic quickly reeled her back in.
She had just escaped the fire pit that was Logan She wasn’t about to jump into the icy abyss
that was Silas.
Taking a steady breath, she shook her head firmly. “Thank you for thinking so highly of me,
Mr. Young, but I still want to try and make it on my own.”
Silas pursed his lips together, feeling slightly disappointed. However, he didn’t push the matter. “Since you’ve made up your mind, I won’t insist on it.”
He pulled out a thicker folder from a drawer and slid it toward her. “This is the full project packet. I’ll trouble you with the final contract.”
Liana accepted it with a nod. “You can rest assured.”
With that, she put her sunglasses and mask back on before rising to her feet and leaving.
As Silas watched her retreating figure, he toyed with a pen in his fingers as he sat lost in thought.
Liana stayed vigilant the entire way home, making sure no one was tailing her before she quietly slipped back into her villa.
The moment she sat down on the couch, her phone buzzed with a bank notification.
“Your account has received 1,000,000.00 dollars…”
That was a notification for one million dollars.
Liana froze for a moment.
Then, she immediately realized that the money must have come from Silas.
She was stunned. The final contract wasn’t even in his hands yet, and he had already transferred the entire fee?
That was so generous.

Grinning, she bounced onto the couch and opened her chat with Silas, and she quickly typed on the screen. “Mr. Young, you’re amazing! I got the money! Love you so much!”
Just as she was about to hit send, she stopped. That sounded a little too excited and was probably a bit inappropriate.
After a moment’s thought, she deleted the message and switched to a proper, formal tone. ” Mr. Young, I’ve received the payment. Thank you”
His reply came almost instantly. “Okay.”
Cold, concise, and just as stingy with words as he always was.
Liana raised an eyebrow, suddenly realizing Silas wasn’t as terrifying as the rumors made him out to be.
He had a cold personality, but he was refreshingly straightforward when it came to money.
