Chapter 173
Chapter 173
X9
Layla had actually planned to bring November along when she went to visit her father on some remote planet during the holidays.
November was thinking the same thing.
But now, after finding out who her real father was, Layla started to hesitate.
‘Am I really going to take November to the rebels’ base?’ she wondered. She wasn’t sure anymore who would be in more danger then.
“Layla, what’s up? Huh, did the signal drop?” Bruce asked.
“No, I just got back. I’m a little tired and haven’t figured things out yet,” Layla replied.
“Oh, so where are you? I’ll come find you. Let’s talk face to face,” Bruce said.
Layla glanced at the closed door behind her, still wondering how Nolan’s treatment was going. She shook her head. “I’ve got something to handle. I’ll come find you at school when I’m done.”
“Alright,” Bruce said, his voice tinged with disappointment. He actually had some good news to share with Layla. Their uncle, Samuel, was finally free!
But there was no rush, and Samuel and his crew had temporarily left Alpha Prime. Once they were all back at base, they could finally meet up.
After she hung up, Layla’s eyes dropped thoughtfully. She was determined to see her father, but maybe leaving November out of it would be safer for both of them.
Just then, Zee’s voice buzzed in Layla’s earpiece. [Layla, Dr. Gill has finished the treatment.]
“Okay,” Layla replied.
Layla was hoping Nolan’s psychic force could still recover, and she also wanted to get some info from him about Xanthe.
When Layla got to the treatment room, the door was already open. Nolan was sitting inside, usually so composed, but now his eyes were anxious. “Dr. Gill, is there any chance my psychic force can recover?”
Olivia nodded. “Yes, but it’ll take a while. If things go well, you might be back to normal by year’s end.”
There were still over three months left until then, but for Nolan, this was like a miracle.
Nolan had thought his psychic force was gone for good, lost forever!
Layla walked in just in time to hear the good news, and she couldn’t help but feel happy for Nolan.
Olivia looked completely wiped out; psychic force treatments really took it out of her.
Seeing how tired Olivia was, Layla said, “Olivia, you should go get some rest.”
“Yeah, I’m gonna take a nap. Layla, wake me up when it’s time to eat, okay?” Olivia was so tired that she almost slipped up, but caught herself just in time.
Olivia took a couple of steps toward the door, then turned back to Nolan. “Commander Sullivan, don’t forget to come in for your treatment once a week.”
“Got it. By the way, Dr. Gill, how much do I owe you?” Nolan asked.

Chapter 173

Olivia was so sleepy that she could barely keep her eyes open, yawning with tears in her eyes. She waved her hand without even turning around. “Someone already paid. You don’t need to worry about it.”
Layla had Zaa control the housekeeping bot to make sure Olivia was resting in her room, and checked if she needed anything.
Layla turned around and saw Nolan putting on his jacket, his collar still unbuttoned, probably left open for the medical equipment earlier.
Layla didn’t give it a second thought.
When he noticed Layla’s gaze, Nolan’s cheeks flushed slightly. He cleared his throat and said, “Layla, how much is the treatment fee? Don’t pay on my behalf.”
“Alright, I’ll ask Olivia later and let you know the total,” Layla replied.
Hearing that, Nolan let out a breath and looked at Layla. Suddenly, he said, “Layla, you seem thinner lately. Have things been tough for you recently?”
“Me? I’m alright. Maybe it’s just all the running around I’ve been doing lately. Really, I’m fine,” Layla replied.
Seeing the concern in Nolan’s eyes, Layla suddenly said, “Nolan, don’t tell anyone I got you treated, not anyone in the family, especially Xanthe.”
Nolan looked surprised. “Why? Layla, you did this for me, and things at home are finally getting better. Xanthe’s finally starting to grow up.”
“Nolan, I heard His Highness Krish is giving Duke Karter more power again, and my partner’s with His Highness Atlas’s crew
now.
“You get what I mean, right? I just don’t want our sibling relationship to get mixed up in all that political drama,” Layla said.
Nolan’s words got stuck in his throat; he couldn’t say a single thing.
Layla’s eyes softened, and she asked offhandedly, “Nolan, is it really true that Xanthe’s more mature these days, like you said?”
Nolan replied, “Yeah, she keeps telling me she regrets it. She even said she shouldn’t have messed with your optical computer, and then you wouldn’t have rushed into marriage like that.”
Nolan just wanted the family to go back to how things used to be. His heart was in the right place, but maybe he was just a little too much of a pushover sometimes.
And honestly, Nolan didn’t even know if Xanthe had truly changed for the better, or if she’d just become a completely different person.
Maybe it was because Nolan wasn’t close to Xanthe, or maybe he just wanted to see the best in everyone.
‘But come on, that’s just not possible,’ Layla wondered.
Layla picked up a ton of details about Xanthe from Nolan. The more Layla listened, the more freaked out she got.
‘Seriously? Xanthe managed to get everyone in the Sullivan family, Nolan included, eating out of her hand in no time, Layla thought.
Layla wasn’t about to underestimate Xanthe anymore. But for now, she still had no clue what Xanthe was really up to.
While Layla was getting info from Nolan about Xanthe, Atlas was back on Meridia, standing once again before that so-called Holy Gate.

Chapter 173
John was leading a squad, slowly approaching the gate.
Andrew stood beside Atlas and said, “Your Highness, I just overheard them. They don’t believe anyone could actually get infected by a starbeast.
“The people they caught coming out of the Holy Gate, aside from the first one, haven’t shown any signs of trouble yet.
“But their psychic force has gotten stronger, and all their physical stats are improving. Still, John is being way too reckless’
Atlas let out a cold laugh. “The Logan family is so desperate to take over from the Clark family and run this planet.
“Maybe they’ve got even bigger ambitions. If they can get power from the Holy Gate, they probably think they can come out and take me down.”
Andrew was taken aback. “Your Highness, so what do we do now?” he asked Atlas.
“Have everyone on standby. The moment they step out of the Holy Gate, grab them all and lock them up, keep them there until they start losing it,” Atlas said coldly.
But waiting for that to happen was pure torture.
Atlas lounged on the couch, one leg casually crossed over the other, his polished black boots glinting coldly in the light.
He pulled out his optical computer and sent a message to Layla.
November: [Hey, Layla, how’s it going? Are you all settled in? I miss you.]
Now, whenever Atlas was talking to Layla, he could instantly switch into his November persona.
But after sending the message, Atlas waited for quite a while, and still no reply. Atlas’s handsome brows slowly drew together in a frown.
