Zee, quick on the uptake, sent Layla’s current coordinates right away.

Zee: [Don’t worry, Mr. Zimmer. Mrs. Zimmer is still at the new place she rented; she’s probably busy turning it into a mech lab, so it’s taking some time. Plus, Dr. Gill is still with Nolan, treating him.]

Atlas’s frown stayed put after hearing all that.

But the next moment, there was movement from the Holy Gate. A subordinate’s voice crackled through Atlas’s earpiece. “Your Highness, they’re coming out!”

“All units, be on alert!” Atlas ordered.

Atlas didn’t bother with the optical computer anymore. He pulled out the mech suit activation button, ready to summon Ares at a moment’s notice.

But the next moment, Andrew’s voice was full of shock. “The trigger pheromone levels in the air are off the charts! Did a charm beast go berserk or something?”

Atlas stared at John, who looked like a completely different person, and said coldly, “No, someone’s been taken over by a charm beast. After it absorbed the shifter’s psychic force, it spread its scent even farther!”

Andrew felt a chill run down his spine just thinking about it. Luckily, their soldiers were already geared up and had their masks on. And it was a good thing they’d cleared out the area, too!

Atlas ordered coldly, “Take them down!”

They would do their best to capture anyone who could be used as a test subject for research. But if they couldn’t, they would kill them on the spot.

They would never let a single one of those mutated freaks get anywhere near the civilians!

Those starbeasts that had just taken over their hosts hadn’t really synced up with the shifters yet, while Atlas’s crew were seasoned warriors who’d seen it all.

Who’d win? That was obvious. It was just a matter of time.

Meanwhile, back at the Crown Prince’s palace on Alpha Prime, Krish shot to his feet. “How did that place get exposed?” he demanded.

The person in the virtual projection looked just as frustrated. “It started with those space hunters.

“I told you about it, and you said it would give us more test subjects. Even the boss seemed to want it that way. But no one expected His Highness Atlas to show up there out of nowhere!”

Krish’s expression turned downright sinister. “What the hell was Atlas doing there?”

Xanthe, who was sitting off to the side, piped up in a confused whisper, “I only heard that my adopted sister, Layla, and her husband went to Meridia.

“Oh, and just recently, the Logan family tried to move into Her Majesty’s private residence, but someone kicked them out. Word is, it was some masked stranger.”

Krish’s eyes narrowed in shock as he said, “Could November really be Atlas? How did I never realize this? I always thought November was from the Clark family!”

Seeing Krish’s sudden realization, Xanthe let a small smile play on her lips. She hadn’t revealed anything, so the system wouldn’t punish her. Krish had put it all together by himself.

‘If Krish figures this out, Layla’s life is about to get a whole lot harder, Xanthe thought to herself.

But before Xanthe could even enjoy her smug look for a full minute, Krish suddenly said, “I get it now. No wonder Atlas blew up when I tried to give Layla to my cousin.

“He really treasures her, huh? Well then, I’d better go tell Father. Since you two are so in love, you should just get married already!”

Xanthe froze, then blurted out, “Your Highness, you’re actually going to help them get married?”

Even though they were officially mates, it was never out in the open. There was still a chance to turn things around.

According to the story, once Layla learned the truth about her past, she would choose to walk away from Atlas.

But if word got out to the whole galaxy, there’d be no turning back; they’d be locked together for good.

Krish gave a sly little smile. “Yeah, since Atlas and that ordinary girl are so close, as his older brother, I’ve got to help him out, right?”

With that, Krish stood up and strode off before Xanthe could even try to stop him.

And since Krish was heading off to see the king, there was no way Xanthe could go with him.

Xanthe was so anxious that she actually started stomping her feet.

‘What a fool! Layla’s dad is the leader of the rebels, and now you’re trying to tie her to Atlas for good? Are you trying to mess up your own chances at the throne?’ she fumed to herself.

Krish had no idea how pissed Xanthe was. Atlas already blew the lid off his secret partnership with that mystery guy, and no one knew what kind of fallout was coming next.

But if Krish called Atlas back now and threw a huge wedding for him, unless Atlas didn’t want to marry Layla, he’d have to drop whatever he’s doing and come running home.

That’d give Krish the perfect chance to step in and take charge of the aftermath at the Holy Gate.

And once Atlas married that ordinary girl, Krish would be pushed even further away from the throne.

Thinking his plan was a win on all fronts, Krish went to see Dakota and reported it with heartfelt sincerity. Dakota was genuinely happy.

Dakota said warmly, “Krish, you really do act like a true older brother. Atlas has been with that girl for so long, but they’ve never had a proper wedding.

“I feel like they’ve been wronged. So, let’s have Leilani start preparing the ceremony and get Atlas back here as soon as possible.”

Leilani, sitting nearby with her eyes downcast, simply said, “Yes.”

Her gaze stayed steady and unruffled.

But the moment she got back to her room, Leilani’s face changed dramatically. She hurried to call her son.

Atlas had already gotten a call from his father. Hearing his mother’s anxious voice, Atlas replied calmly, his tone laced with sarcasm, “Krish is really doing me a favor, isn’t he? I should be so grateful.”

Leilani called out, her voice tense, “Atlas”

Atlas said, “The Holy Gate situation probably has Krish’s fingerprints all over it. I’ve rounded up a group of people whiise been parasitized by starbeasts and plan to bring them back for research

“Father just called to say that once I’m back, Krish will take over the rest, so I can just relax and get ready for the wedding’

Leilani was silent for a moment. “So, are you going to keep digging into this?” she said.

Atlas smiled, “Of course, I am. Whatever’s going on behind the scenes could have huge consequences. But honesty, I do

have to thank Krish.

“I’ve always wanted to marry Layla and make it official for the whole galaxy to see, I feel like she’s had to put up with a lot

because of me.”

Seeing that Atlas had everything under control, Leilani didn’t press further. She said with a relieved unile, I think I ayla really cares about you, but she’s probably got a lot on her mind.

“Honestly, we should thank Krish for finally bringing this out into the open

“Yeah,” Atlas replied.

Krish really didn’t disappoint.

Krish was so worried that Atlas wouldn’t marry Layla that he went ahead and spread the word himself, telling everyone that November was actually Atlas!

It wasn’t long before word got out to everyone around Layla,

Annic wasted no time and called Layla right away. “Layla! November is actually Atlas. Did you know? Wait, of course, you did. You two are married! Oh my god, you kept this under wraps for so long!

“I can’t believe I even told you to find someone else before. Atlas doesn’t know about that, does he?”

Layla was frozen in shock. Her optical computer was blowing up with messages and calls, one after another.

But since it was already busy, all she could hear was the constant stream of notification tones.

Zaa dutifully reported: [Layla, everyone from your old squad is blowing up your phone.

[There’s a call from Celia at the Wastelands-9 Orphan Core, your cousin, Bruce, your teacher, your newly acknowledged Dizzy, and Weston. Oh, and Atlas is calling, too.]

Layla felt like her head was about to explode. ‘How did this get out so fast? she wondered.

Layla looked up and saw Nolan, who was just about to head out, staring at her in shock.

He glanced down at his optical computer, then looked back, his voice full of disbelief as he asked, “Layla, is it true what everyone’s saying online?

“Is your mate, November, the guy who’s always wearing a mask, actually Atlas from Alpha Prime?”
