Chapter 179
The royals had their own rules.
Leilani knew Karter was working for Krish, but her hands were tied.
After all, leaving the Sullivan Manor through marriage was the most dignified path for Layla.
Still, she left the final decision up to the two kids.
Atlas wasn’t fond of the Sullivan family, but since Layla was still asleep, he was just about to tell his mom to wait until Layla woke up.
But then Layla, who was in his arms, blinked.
Layla had just woken up, her eyes still misty with sleep. She yawned and said, “I’m not having my wedding at the Sullivan Manor. Either at my dorm, or maybe at the mech lab I rented.”
‘Krish is just so gross. He always pretends to care about you, but he’s always scheming behind your back and doing all kinds of creepy stuff, Layla thought.
November nodded. “Alright, we’ll have the wedding at the mech lab and then head straight to the estate. No royal drama involved at all.”
After all, as a prince, November just had to swing by the palace the next day for the formalities with the king and queen.
Leilani smiled softly. “Alright, sounds good. I’ll let you two get back to it.”
As Leilani hung up with a smile, Layla’s cheeks went pink. Right now, their tails were still all wrapped up together. Ugh, this is so embarrassing,’ Layla thought.
She was completely curled up in November’s arms.
‘Thank goodness it was just a call and not a video chat, Layla thought with relief
“I’ve got class today, so I need to head back to school,” Layla said.
“Alright. I’ve still got people following up on the whole Holy Gate mess. And I need to drop by the palace,” November replied.
‘Gotta thank my dear big bro properly,’ he thought.
Layla nodded, but after a while, November still hadn’t budged. She rolled her eyes and said, “Seriously, can you get your tails to stop wrapping around me?”
“Oh, I totally forgot about my tails. They pretty much do whatever they want,” November replied, then leaned down and planted a quick kiss on the corner of Layla’s mouth before reluctantly getting up.
Layla couldn’t help but stare at his perfect muscles and those killer abs.
Layla was speechless.
‘So what if he’s got more tails? Big deal, Layla thought.
As a wolf shifter, Layla only had one tail.
But November was a mutant fox shifter with a whopping nine tails.

Chapter 179
They’d really let loose last night, so Layla was still feeling the aftereffects. After grabbing some breakfast, she needed a bit to recover before heading back to school.
But as soon as Layla walked through the school gates, she noticed people shooting her these complicated glances.
The most intense were from the ones who’d had beef with her and November last semester.
Then Layla spotted the Crown Squad, all wearing super complicated expressions. Xanthe was there too, since they had training together.
Everyone looked like they were dealing with a whole storm of emotions.
But since most of them either barely knew Layla or had pissed her off before, nobody wanted to be the first to say anything.
Layla had barely taken a few steps when she spotted Annie, Alex, and Wallace coming her way.
Her three friends looked like they had a million things to say, but not a single word came out. Even Annie, who was usually the first to speak up, seemed to have a lump in her throat.
Layla checked the time on her optical computer. She had fifteen minutes before class. She turned to her friends and said, “Come on, let’s head to my dorm and talk there.”
“Okay,” they all replied.
But as soon as they turned around, two more tagalongs showed up.
One was Layla’s cousin, Bruce, and the other was her apprentice, Jayvon.
Layla just glanced at them and didn’t say a word.
It wasn’t until Layla and her crew disappeared around the corner that the Crown Squad finally came back to their senses.
Chaim felt particularly struck; he stood there with a stunned look on his face, saying, “Now I finally understand why Layla looked at me with such disdain when I told her that her partner was much worse compared to Marcus. It all makes sense
now.”
‘Can she blame him?
‘Come on, is there anyone on Alpha Prime who can even hold a candle to Prince Atlas?’ Chaim thought.
Romeo let out a sigh. “Yeah, even though we’re part of the Crown Squad, none of us want to get on Prince Atlas’s bad side this early.”
Kierra frowned, “Prince Atlas wouldn’t really take it personally, would he?”
Wayne, as always, stayed quiet.
And because he was always so reserved, he was the one who managed to offend the fewest people in the group.
As for Xanthe, she shot Layla a death glare full of envy as she watched her walk away.
‘Go ahead and bask in it for now, Layla. That protagonist halo of yours? Sooner or later, it’s gonna be mine,’ Xanthe thought.
Layla had no idea what everyone behind her was thinking. She just brought her crew to her dorm room and glanced at her optical computer to check the time.
Layla looked at her five friends and said, “Okay, one question each.”
Annie was about to burst out with a question, but Bruce beat her to it, jumping in before she could even open her mouth.

Chapter 179
“Layla, are you really gonna marry Prince Atlas?” Bruce blurted out, eyes wide.
Layla nodded. “Let me set the record straight. Prince Atlas and I are already mates. The wedding is just for the formalities?
Bruce’s eyes were red. “Layla, why are you marrying him?”
His uncle and the others had totally lost it yesterday, and honestly, Bruce was just as wrecked.
They hadn’t even had a chance to tell Layla who they really were, and now, just like that, she was about to marry the guy they hated most.
Layla replied calmly, “That’s already your second question. What about the rest of you?”
Annie finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst out, “Layla, did you see Prince Atlas yesterday? Do you think he remembers how I tried to talk you into switching fiancés?
“And, oh my god, I even called him a cute puppy and begged you to hook me up with one.”
Annie was always quick to speak her mind, and the more she thought about it, the more she cringed at her own history of saying ridiculous things.
If Atlas was the type to hold grudges, he probably would’ve already thrown her, the whole Knight family, and even Randall’s folks straight into a black hole by now.
And to top it off, her boyfriend, Randall, was actually one of Atlas’s subordinates.
Layla grinned. “Trust me, Prince Atlas doesn’t sweat the small stuff.”
Annie finally breathed out. “Whew, that’s a relief.”
Next up was Alex, and his question was actually pretty reasonable. “Is Prince Atlas still gonna come to school and squad up with us?”
Layla shook her head. “Honestly, I don’t know, but probably not. If he joined, it’d just be totally unfair for everyone else.”
Everyone started thinking about all those tests we had before, and that time when someone was dumb enough to take on
November.
Wallace was munching on fries and asked, “Layla, can we come to your wedding party?”
1
‘It’s a royal wedding. There’s bound to be a feast. So much amazing food, Wallace thought, practically drooling.
Layla smiled and nodded. “Sure, I’ll get you all party invitations.”
“Yes,” Wallace cheered.
Everyone seemed happy with the answers, so Layla turned to Jayvon.
Jayvon had been in a great mood these past few days. Ilades, the legendary mech master, had actually agreed to take him on as an apprentice.
He looked at Layla, brimming with confidence. “Layla, your squad needs five members. If Prince Atlas isn’t on the team anymore, can I join your squad?”
Layla shot a look at her bonus apprentice and nodded. “Yeah, you can join.”
That finally put a big grin on Jayvon’s face.
With all the questions out of the way, it was almost time for class. Jayvon was heading to the same classroom as Layla, but

Bruce still had a ton he wanted to get off his chest.
But with so many people around, and since none of them had made up their minds about whether to spill the beans to Layla, they all just kept their mouths shut for now.
Jayvon gave Bruce a look, then followed after Layla.
He was just about to ask Layla about her and Atlas again when she cut in, “I’ve got an orphan core out on the west side of Prime City. If your mom’s ever looking for something to do, she can check it out.”
