Chapter 182
Chapter 182
November said, “Whatever it takes, just make sure Layla loves me forever. Oh, and neither you nor Zaa can trace that signal. Looks like I’ll have to get Weston to work his magic on you two.”
November immediately messaged Weston, saying there’s a mysterious Al out there, super strong, and it keeps trying to hack into Zee and Zaa’s firewalls.
Weston, who had already escaped to another planet with the rebels, had his attention instantly caught when he saw the message.
He snuck back to his room and called Atlas on the sly.
He asked, “Prince Atlas, what’s happening? I get why someone would want to break into your AI firewall, but why go after Layla’s, too?”
November replied, “I’m not sure. Zee and Zaa just teamed up to track the signal, and it’s locked onto the rich district of Alpha Prime. If I had to guess, it’s probably someone working for Prince Krish.”
Weston was speechless. “No offense, Prince Atlas, but your brother is really something else. Have you ever thought about taking Layla and just leaving Alpha Prime for good?”
Trying to talk the God of War into leaving Alpha Prime was kind of sneaky, but Weston had his own reasons. He just wanted the best for Layla.
If Alpha Prime and the rebels ever went head-to-head, Layla would be stuck in the middle, and that would be a real mess.
He trusted Atlas. Even if he found out about Layla’s true identity, he knew Atlas’s feelings for her wouldn’t change.
‘But what about the rest of the folks on Alpha Prime?’ he wondered.
And on top of that, there was another bunch of rebels out there, causing chaos and blaming it all on Daniel and his crew.
November didn’t answer right away.
Weston quickly laughed and switched topics. “You guys couldn’t track that system, right? I’ll write up a couple of programs for Zee and Zaa to reinforce their firewalls and help them track that signal down.
“Whenever the other side makes a move and gets close, you’ll be able to spot them right away.”
November replied, “Alright, I owe you one, Weston. By the way, are you coming to my wedding to Layla?”
Weston said, “When is it? I’ll try.”
November said, “Awesome, I’ve already sent you the invitation.”
After they hung up, Weston stared at the wedding invite on his optical computer, feeling a little conflicted.
It was his one and only treasured disciple’s wedding. No way he could miss it.
Just then, Melanie came in with a serious look. “The boss has made up his mind. We have to get Layla back before she
marries Atlas.”
Weston’s heart lurched. “Get who back?”
“Who else? Layla,” Melanie said.
Weston was at a loss for words.
Chapter 182
During mech suit history class, Layla suddenly remembered that she hadn’t told Celia or her little brothers and sisters at Wastelands-9 Orphan Core that she was getting married to Atlas soon.
So after class, she called Jayvon over and asked if he could bring his mom along to check out the orphanage first.
Jayvon was more than happy to go.
He was really worried about his mom’s condition.
His mom had once told him that after he got married and found someone who truly cared for him, she could finally be at
peace.
That really freaked Jayvon out.
So he kept coming up with things for her to do, hoping it would help lift her spirits.
Jayvon took his mom out for a stroll, saying they were just going shopping. Nobody thought twice about it. He was way more respected in the family these days.
But when Jayvon’s mom, Eleanor Turner, got into the aero-vehicle and saw Layla inside, her usually dull eyes suddenly lit
“Are you Jayvon’s partner?” she asked.
Layla didn’t take it to heart. She knew about Eleanor’s mental state, so she just let it slide.
Jayvon broke out in a cold sweat.
“Mom, don’t go saying stuff like that. She’s just my classmate, and she’s taken,” Jayvon blurted out.
Even before November became who he was now. Jayvon was already scared of him. Not only was his shift tier crazy high, but his punches hurt like hell.
And the craziest thing was, November was super possessive. He’d glare daggers/at any guy who got near Layla.
And now that he knew November was actually Atlas, Jayvon just wanted to surrender. He was totally out of his league.
Eleanor glanced at her nervous son, then at Layla, who wore a faint smile.
Layla replied earnestly, “Eleanor, you’ve got the wrong idea. Jayvon and I are just classmates, and I already have a fiance.”
“Well, that’s a shame,” Eleanor sighed with a world-weary air. “I always said, Jayvon’s a good boy, but he’s just not good enough for a girl like you.”
Layla couldn’t help but smile.
Jayvon couldn’t help but grimace, feeling a bit defeated.
‘Seriously, is this even my mom?’ Jayvon grumbled to himself.
But after that little detour, everyone finally relaxed.
Halfway there, Layla got a call from Olivia. She said Evelyn and the others wanted to come to the orphanage, too. The aero- vehicle was big enough, so Layla told Jayvon they’d swing by to pick them up first.
Ever since Evelyn was forcefully taken away from the Abyss, she’d been in a bad mood. Olivia was really worried, so she talked it over with Rosa and decided they should all go check out the orphanage together.

Chapter 182
Once they picked up the three of them, the aero-vehicle got a little crowded. Layla introduced everyone to each other.
When Jayvon first laid eyes on Olivia, with her stunning looks and delicate features, he was totally caught off guard. He quickly turned to stare out the window, but couldn’t help sneaking glances at her whenever he thought no one was watching
The merfolk were famous for their beauty, and Olivia was especially captivating. She had this lively, almost magical vibe about her. When she heard Eleanor wasn’t feeling well, she even offered to do a quick check-up.
“Eleanor, is there something you’ve always wanted to do? Maybe you could try doing something you really enjoy. It might help lift your spirits,” Olivia said gently.
Eleanor replied earnestly, “I want to find my son a wife.”
Olivia was speechless, not sure whether to laugh or cry. “That’s one thing I really can’t help with, she thought.
She shot Layla a helpless look, hoping for some backup.
Layla just gave her a comforting look. After all, Eleanor’s mental state could be all over the place.
Evelyn was pretty quiet, just sitting there, while Rosa kept her company and tried to keep the conversation going.
Layla could tell the old lady was still annoyed, and she was about to say something to stick up for November, when Evelyn suddenly asked out of the blue, “Layla, do you really not want to marry Prince Atlas?”
Olivia, sitting nearby, instantly got nervous. “Evelyn, what are you talking about?”
It was obvious to everyone that Layla and November were head over heels for each other.
Layla just smiled and didn’t take it to heart.
Just then, the aero-vehicle pulled up in front of the orphanage. Layla said, “No, it’s not that I don’t want to marry Prince Atlas.”
Evelyn paused, her gaze unwavering. She insisted, “No, I can see you don’t really want to marry into the royal family. So, are you thinking about running away from the wedding? If you do, take me with you.”
Layla was speechless.
