Antony glanced at November on the screen. “When stellar rangers go on missions, there’s only success or failure. There’s no such thing as a ‘fair’ environment.

“The Crown Squad kids are all excellent, but they’ve never faced real setbacks. That’s not good for them.

“If they had been accumulating points aggressively from the start, or targeting other teams instead of despising them, their score would be much higher now, making it much harder for Layla’s team to catch up.”

Since entering, Tomas had advised the team to hunt more starbeasts and accumulate points.

But as the leading team, they couldn’t see the scores behind them-a rule designed to keep them vigilant and constantly striving.

However, Crown Squad, confident they had no rivals, not willing to lay a hand on lower-tier starbeast.

But the number of mid and upper-tier starbeasts was limited. They were harder to find in the later competition.

The instructor, clearly a Crown Squad supporter, muttered, “So there’s no other way? They just have to lose?”

At that moment, Shayla spoke up.

“No, they still have a chance. If they find Layla’s team now and the two squads clash head-on, it’s still anyone’s game.”

Meanwhile, Crown Squad was taking a break.

Chaim was inspecting the team’s mech suits for damage. Romeo walked over to Tomas. “Commander, we’ve got first place in the bag. Why do you still look so worried?”

He was the team’s chatterbox and mood-lifter. Their commander was quiet, Wayne was the strong, silent type, Kierra was too arrogant, and Chaim, though talkative, was busy working.

Tomas’s brows were knitted. “I’m thinking about what rank Layla Sullivan’s team is at now.”

Kierra glanced over. “Commander, maybe they’ve already been eliminated.”

Romeo agreed, “Yeah, even if they’re still in, they can’t catch up. If they make it to the top ten, that’s already overachieving for them.”

Chaim looked up. “Besides, we took down an S-Tier starbeast. No other freshmen team has that capability.”

Kierra saw Tomas was still not reassured and frowned. “This scoring system is so unfair to the first-place team. It feels like we’re isolated from the world.”

Romeo chimed in, “The price of being at the top, I guess. Wonder which instructor came up with this rule. But don’t overthink it. We’re definitely first. It’s locked in! Hey, with our team score, do you think I’ll be fourth

overall?”

Even Chaim, as the mech engineer, might squeeze into the top ten-a remarkable achievement for his role.

He was thrilled for a moment, then remembered that before this team competition, Layla, also a mech engineer, was ranked first. His mood dampened slightly.

Tomas was still uneasy.

He narrowed his eyes, opening the electronic map. While the first-place team couldn’t see others’ scores, all teams had access to the starbeast distribution map.

Right now, one area showed a growing concentration of starbeasts.

“We’re heading here.” Tomas ordered.

“Huh? That area’s all lower-tier starbeasts. Lots of them, but wouldn’t it be better to hunt some upper or mid- tier ones?”

But Tomas had made up his mind. “Chaim, how much longer to finish all mech maintenance?”

“Give me ten more minutes.”

“Make it quicker.”

“Got it.”

Meanwhile, Layla was sitting under a large tree. The captured starbeasts were penned nearby, with Annie keeping watch.

Suddenly, her optical computer blinked-a message in the team channel.

November: [Star, you and Annie eliminate those starbeasts now and relocate toward the finish line.]

Layla: [Understood.]

Layla immediately stood, summoned her mech, and called Annie to action.

Annie was confused. “Aren’t we waiting for the others?”

“No. If we wait any longer, what arrives might not be our teammates, but Crown Squad.” Layla answered.

Layla acted decisively. As the penned lower-tier starbeasts fell, their points steadily rose, inching closer to Crown Squad’s total.

The instructors watching the screens were stunned.

Moments before, they saw Crown Squad, led by Tomas, preparing to ambush Layla’s team-the gathering of lower-tier starbeasts was a clear anomaly.

Tomas’ judgement was correct. Heading there would have brought them face-to-face with Layla’s starbeast- farming operation.

But Layla’s team had moved?

They had realized that such a concentration would draw Crown Squad’s attention. So, November ordered Layla to immediately kill the stockpiled starbeasts and head for the finish.

One instructor murmured, “November didn’t spell it out that clearly, yet Layla understood immediately?”

Antony nodded. “Crown Squad is in trouble. Layla’s team, though five people, effectively has five troopers, two commanders, and one mech engineer.”

This assessment was almost too high!

The other instructors were shocked.

Herbert said with a touch of envy to Shayla beside him, “You got lucky landing a gem like student Layla Sullivan!”

Shayla replied calmly, “She never chose the Trooper Division to begin with, so no need to feel too down.”

Herbert glanced at the Command Division instructors, whose expressions were sour, and felt a bit better.

Meanwhile, the Command Division instructor Bobby Chambers was focused on November.

He frowned at Antony. “Director, this November is too outstanding. Why don’t I have any impression of him?”

“Take a closer look.”

Bobby looked again-the performance data, the 100% accurate shooting-and gasped. “Could it be… His Highness?”

Antony nodded. “So, Tomas losing to him isn’t a disgrace. But if he can’t match Layla, then it proves Tomas still needs more practice.”

As the instructors discussed the students’ performances, Tomas was shocked to find the previously concentrated starbeast location had vanished. The starbeasts were all gone-hunted.

A sense of foreboding hit him. He quickly pulled up the virtual screen on his optical computer. A second later, a notification flashed.

Crown Squad had dropped to second place.

The team that had just overtaken them was none other than Layla’s squad.

“This is impossible!” He shouted.
