Romeo and the others were stunned.

Even though Tomas had repeatedly warned them to be wary of Layla, to watch out for her team catching up. none of them had really taken it seriously.

They acknowledged Layla was strong, but the rest of her team? Nowhere near their level.

How could one strong member carry an entire team to first place? Especially when their team had taken down an S-Tier starbeast.

Chaim saw Layla’s name and felt a stab of irritation. He muttered, “They must be cheating They have to be cheating!”

Kierra couldn’t believe it either. Her frivolous, good-for-nothing cousin Annie Knight was part of the team that had beaten them?

She was half a year younger than Annie and had always outshone her in every way. This was the first time Annie had ever bested her.

“All units, accelerate!” Tomas commanded, his voice cool and collected.

He couldn’t accept this defeat either. But there was still time. They hadn’t lost yet. Crown Squad did not lose.

Fueled by a mix of shock and determination, the team raced toward the last known coordinates.

But the starbeast concentration there had vanished, and so had the marker. Meanwhile, a new concentration was forming elsewhere on the map.

Romeo asked, “Commander, are they farming in two different spots? It’s not realistic to herd all the starbeasts to one place, so they’re splitting them up?”

“Do we chase them, or do we hunt starbeasts?”

Just then, the point gap between first and second place widened dramatically!

Tomas’s frown deepened. “We hunt them.”

“Right! If we take them out, first place is guaranteed!”

With time running out, finding large groups of starbeasts was nearly impossible now.

Meanwhile, Layla had led Annie close to the finish line exit. She checked her optical computer. She knew November’s move would lure Tomas to the other location, and a clash was inevitable.

She looked up and saw scattered starbeasts ahead. “Annie, let’s hunt. As many as we can.”

“Yes!” Annie nodded. She was really excited.

For the first time in her life, she was ahead of her perfect cousin Kierra. Their team was number one, having beaten Crown Squad! She fought with renewed fervor, even surpassing her usual level.

Crown Squad, racing toward the new coordinates, watched helplessly as the first-place team’s lead grew and the clock ticked down. Morale plummeted.

But they clung to a shred of hope: find Layla’s team, eliminate them, and the points would stop, the lead would vanish.

In the final stretch, nobody was conserving energy anymore. Five advanced mech suits thundered across the wilderness.

When they finally reached their destination, they found only three people waiting.

Tomas frowned. “Has Layla already been eliminated?”

Seeing Tomas’s focus on Layla, November’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He immediately issued orders to Alex and Wallace.

“Here’s your chance for a no-holds-barred fight with Crown Squad. Go all out. Getting eliminated is fine.”

Alex’s eyes

lit up. His massive mech raised its hammer and charged.

Wallace, despite his strength, was naturally more cautious.

“Commander, if we both get eliminated, won’t we be giving our points to them? We’d lose second place too!”

November glanced at their team’s steadily climbing score, a smile touching his lips beneath the mask. ‘My Star was so clever, knowing to rack up points now.’

“It’s fine,” he said. “As long as I, the commander, don’t get eliminated.”

That was the rule: the commander’s status determined if a team was still active.

So even if Alex and Wallace were out, as long as November remained, Crown Squad’s efforts might be in vain. If Crown Squad lost members in the process, they might even fall out of the top ten.

Hearing that elimination didn’t affect the team score, Wallace lost his fear. He charged straight at Chaim, the weakest mech engineer in Crown Squad.

Chaim started cursing. “Wallace! You’re a trooper picking on a mech engineer? Have you no shame?”

“Can shame be traded for snacks?”

Chaim was speechless.

Kierra couldn’t just watch Chaim get bullied by a trooper. She piloted her mech and charged at Wallace.

Wallace couldn’t beat Kierra, but he wasn’t about to just lie down. After trading a few blows, he started running-straight back toward Chaim, to continue pummeling him.

Meanwhile, Alex, who had charged in first, was going all out. He’d picked Crown Squad’s strongest trooper, Wayne.

He piloted a lightweight mech, while Wayne used a heavyweight model. For a moment, Wayne actually couldn’t quickly finish off Alex?

Romeo narrowed his eyes but didn’t move, remaining close to Tomas.

But Tomas was looking at the black mech in the distance, surrounded by starbeast carcasses.

“Who are you, really?” He asked.

“Me? I’m Layla’s husband,” November emphasized. According to his observation, this commander seemed particularly focused on his Star.

A shifter in rut underwent a dramatic personality change, becoming extremely dependent on their mate, even acting spoiled around them.

But toward potential rivals, their possessiveness became even more intense.

November’s tongue touched the tip of a sharp canine. “You seem very interested in my Star. Didn’t you know she’s already married?”

Tomas was speechless. He was simply admiring strength. Losing to someone like this felt especially bitter.

He immediately ordered his team, “All units, focus fire. Eliminate him!”

Upon hearing the command, Romeo immediately launched his mech into the air, bringing down a four- meter-long blade toward the black mech!

Tomas himself aimed a photon cannon at the evading November.

But the others couldn’t provide support. Alex followed Wayne tightly, even with one of his mech’s arms blown off, he fought more fiercely than ever. It had been so long since he’d had such a satisfying, all-out fight!

Wallace, meanwhile, kept chasing Chaim, once nearly hitting his energy module! Kierra chased Wallace, trying to save Chaim. The three of them ended up further and further away.

Tomas wasn’t worried. He was confident they could eliminate these three before time ran out. He trusted his team’s ability.

But just then, Tomas glanced at the score feed on his optical computer. His eyes widened in shock. Why was Layla’s team score still rising?
