Sorry I'm Mated To The Commander novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53

tavla paused for a few seconds, then whispered, “If you think about it, they’re basically family. Things are pretty chantic right now, let’s just hurry back to school”

Without another word, they hopped into the aero-vehicle.

Just then, their teacher pinged them, urging them to hurry back to school.

Looks like the rebels’ trouble was causing quite a stir, Layla wondered.

Suddenly, Layla’s optical computer chimed. She glanced down and saw a message from Atlas.

She thought he’d be questioning her about why she was showing up in a chaotic, shady place like the Understreet.

But instead, Atlas: [Do you have enough starcoins?]

Layla: [Your Highness, did someone hack your account?]

Atlas rolled his eyes.

Atlas: [No one would dare hack my account.]

Layla: [Oh

Atlas: [What were you buying in the Understreet?]

Layla: I wanted to pick up some mech suit parts, but I didn’t get the chance; I had to leave with my classmates before I could buy anything.l

After sending the message, Layla felt a little spaced out, having no idea what Atlas was thinking.

But after that, Atlas didn’t reply again.

She didn’t dwell on it.

After all, he was Atlas; he had a ton of responsibilities, not to mention tracking down the rebels.

Just getting a few messages from him was already pretty special.

Even though their conversation was honestly pretty disappointing.

Layla was really missing November and his adorable clinginess.

The aero-vehicle quickly flew back to school, but they came back empty-handed.

Layla had no choice but to hop onto the mech suit forum to help her teammates buy the parts they needed.

But getting them this way would end up being pricier.

Alex had a ton of faith in Layla. He handed over his mech suit and immediately sent her 100 thousand starcoins.

He said, “Make sure to get the best materials. If you run out of starcoins, just let me know,”

Layla nodded. “Got it.”

After Alex left, Layla noticed Annie standing nearby, looking super down, like a sad little cat.

Chapter 53

That was pretty rare for her.

Layla asked curiously, “Annie, what’s up?”

Annie complained, “My fiancé’s whole family showed up at my place, and now they’re demanding I go home. I really don’t want to. It’s all about the wedding talk again.

“We agreed to wait until next year, but now that his rut is coming up and he refuses to use the personalized serum. He’s basically trying to use me for it and rush us into getting married.”

Layla had also been engaged to Caleb James before.

For nobles on Alpha Prime, marrying for family alliances was just how things worked.

Layla said, “Since both families are cool with it and you guys have been engaged forever, getting married is just the obvious thing to do, isn’t it?”

Annie grumbled, “But it just makes me feel so weird. Before we even got engaged, he was totally into my cousin. But she was way too good for him, so when he couldn’t get her, I ended up as the backup plan.”

For both families, as long as someone from each side tied the knot, their alliance stayed solid, no matter who it was.

But honestly, the whole thing just made Annie feel kinda sick.

Annie stared at Layla with big, hopeful eyes. “See? You’re so lucky, your trash fiancé dumped you himself. If only my cousin would swoop in and say she wanted him, I’d finally be free.”

Layla just felt helpless.

Annie, determined not to go home, stuck to Layla like a shadow.

She couldn’t help asking, “Seriously, Layla, you still haven’t told me. How did you even meet November? And how does he always show up out of nowhere like that?”

Layla didn’t want to get into the whole Atlas thing, so she just replied, “It was through the Genetic Pairing Program on the optical computer.”

Annie blurted out, “No way. You actually applied for the Genetic Pairing Program?” Her voice was full of disbelief.

Annie was so stunned, her eyes nearly popped out.

Sure enough, she completely forgot about November’s whereabouts; now she was totally hung up on the Genetic Pairing Program.

Annie’s imagination was running wild. “Oh, I get it. Caleb turned out to be a total jerk, you were heartbroken, so you just threw your hands up and let destiny take the wheel with the Genetic Pairing Program.

“And then, fate handed you your own clingy sweetheart, November, right?”

Layla walked up to her dorm room door, about to unlock it.

Layla, a bit speechless, said, “Nope, here’s what really happened, Xanthe used my optical computer to sign me up for the Genetic Pairing Program, and just like that, I somehow ended up married to November.”

Annie was totally blown away for the second time today.

“Damn. Is Xanthe for real? Could she be any more of a troll? And you just let her do that? You didn’t even beat her up, or at least yell at her? That’s totally not your style,” she snapped.

Layla unlocked the door and stepped inside her dorm.

Her dorm was still just hers, no roommates in sight.

As for Atlas, he only ever showed up when his rut was coming on.

The school seemed clueless about the whole thing, so they just left her room untouched, no new roommates, no questions asked.

Layla said coolly, “Honestly, even beating her up would be letting her off easy. But at least she helped me get rid of the trash.

Annie instantly realized that the trash Layla was talking about was Caleb.

She nodded. “Yeah, I guess Xanthe actually did something useful for once.”

Layla watched as Annie followed her inside and even shut off her own optical computer.

Layla, a bit speechless, said, “Are you planning to hide out here?”

Annie nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes. Please, Layla, adopt this poor little kitten and let me stay with you, okay?”

Layla was speechless. ‘Since when does a poor little kitten act this sassy?’ she thought.

But in the end, she didn’t kick Annie out.

Annie flashed a grin and plopped down on the couch. “Layla, got any snacks in your dorm? Oh, and can you stream a movie for me on your optical computer?”

“Sure thing. But I’m out of snacks, so I’ll just order some online for you,” Layla replied.

“Sweet,” Annie said.

Layla put on a movie for Annie, ordered a QuickDrop snack pack, and hopped onto the mech suit forum.

As usual, she went straight to browsing the marketplace.

One could find pretty much any part here, except for weapons.

But it was mostly just the regular stuff; if you wanted something rare, like starbeast teeth or bones, that was a whole different

story.

Layla let out a sigh. “Such a shame, we made a trip to the Understreet and came back empty-handed. Now it’s been shut down, and who knows when it’ll be back up.”

Annie, sprawled out on the couch with her eyes glued to the movie, replied, “That’s tough. If we’re lucky, maybe it’ll only be closed for a week. But if it drags on, honestly, no clue.”

Just then, the doorbell rang.

“That must be the snacks. Annie, go grab them,” Layla said.

“On it.” Annie rolled off the couch, walked to the door, and opened it, only to find a stellar ranger standing there, someone who looked oddly familiar.

Her eyes went wide. “Wait, it’s you?”
