Chapter 193

understood,” Prime Beta said, likely seeing it too.

Grayson turned then, and started running.

“Moon Goddess, protect them both,” I whispered.

Lillian’s POV

Using a floral medical guidebook I had picked up from a local at the base of the mountain, I traversed through the wilderness, with my guard ever in my shadow. We were high up now, where the flower was said to bloom, if it really existed. Even the guide book had it labeled as possibly a myth. So far, I hadn’t seen any sign of it.

But the view… Gods, this view was breathtaking. Tall, snowcapped mountains were before me, beautiful and dangerous with sheer cliffs and bitter cold winds. The trees were thinner here, sparsely placed now, where they had been plentiful only a few yards lower.

I’d been hoping the less trees, the easier it would be to spot the sparkling crystal petals of the flowers I searched for. But instead, the snow piles made everything sparkle, and I was starting to feel at a loss.

Taking a moment, I breathed in the fresh air, trying to center myself. Slowly, I opened my eyes again, and searched across my surroundings.

A figure moved in the distance, passing in the shadow between two trees.

We had seen bears here, and wolves, but all had given us distance. This hadn’t looked like either.

That shape had seemed like a man. And it had been moving toward us.

Who else would be out here? We were in the middle of nowhere.

I turned to my guard, but his attention was behind us.

“My lady, I think we are being followed,” he said.

“They are ahead of us too,” I said, feeling colder now than I had since we stepped on this frigid mountain.

He withdrew his sword. “Stay near me. We will start down the hill toward the cars.”

I nodded, keeping close to him. The journey back down the mountain would take at least two hours.

Every shadow seemed to move now.

The guard paused.

“What is it? Do you see more of them?”

He glanced back at me. “Forgive me, Luna Princess.”
