Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 224

Chapter 224

Lillian’s POV

When I returned home, the children were there with their babysitter, who had already been vetted by the Lycan Kingdom. Though the kids and I were living in our own little cottage, the Lycan royal family had been unwilling to allow me to travel all this way without some help. So there was another house nearby where nannies and Lycan guards lived, ready to help if I needed them.

I thanked the babysitter and sent her on her way. Alone with the kids, they bounced around, full of energy.

They sing-songed, “Daddy, Daddy, we have a Daddy!”

I didn’t want them to live with false hope, and tried to correct them several times, but they seemed to have it in their heads that Grayson was their father. Nothing I said was able to convince them otherwise.

Grayson. Who they had only met once.

I had worried about Grayson being able to detect these were his children but now I worried the opposite was true. What if the kids could sense their father instead?

I continued denying it throughout the night and then sent them to bed. As they slept, I went into my own room and laid down. Sleep didn’t find me, and I spent a long time staring at the ceiling.

Even if I had wanted to reunite with Grayson, which I couldn’t despite what my heart yearned for, he had moved on. With Odette.

The person who had received the flower that should have been used to save Ronan.

I couldn’t hate her for that. I didn’t want anyone to die instead. I just wanted my brother to be alive and well. Even after five years it still hurt.

Everything hurt.

Rolling over in bed, I squeezed closed my eyes and tried to do all I could to push away the thoughts and the hurt that had become a companion to me since I’d made my hurtful choice.

The next morning, after sending the girls to school, I returned to the palace. Since making a public appearance last time, I didn’t need a disguise anymore and gave up wearing the blonde wig.

I searched for Clara first, but could find no trace of her. I didn’t want to approach any of the court and ask, as most of them cast me dirty looks.

Instead, I went searching for Ivory instead. The servants were much more welcoming, all smiling and treating me kindly. When I asked for Ivory, they guided me to her without much fuss.

“Lily!” Ivory gasped and rushed toward me. She pulled me into a hug, which I eagerly returned, happy to be with my friend again after so long apart.
