Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 225

Chapter 225

Tory nodded. “I help however I can, but I don’t know if I can do much.”

“Moral support is always welcome,” I said and gave her a smile.

She returned it for a moment before it turned wistful. “Grayson has seemed to miss you…”

“I don’t want to talk about him,” I said.

“He hasn’t taken another mate. Not even a lover. You should know that.”

“You don’t have to lie to me to spare my feelings,” I said. “I’ve already seen him with Odette.”

“Odette,” Ivory scoffed, rolling her eyes. “She’s been trying to move in since the day you left, but she hasn’t had much luck. Grayson absolutely refuses to commit.”

I blinked, surprised by that. Had I misread the earlier interaction? But that didn’t change anything, not really. Grayson himself said he needed an heir, and as I’d already broken our bond, who would be better for him than Odette?

I had to protect my heart. Soon, I would find Teacher and take him back to the Lycan Kingdom and be gone from this place. My visit was temporary. I couldn’t allow myself to become entangled in this in him again.

“I saw the King,” I said, changing gears.

“Yes, it’s sad, isn’t it? He was a good leader once, now his mind is twisted,” Ivory sighed. “Worse I think someone is manipulating him.”

“The council?” I asked. “I saw one of their ‘meetings’ earlier.”

“No,” Ivory said. “Listen, I think the Council is the worst. I’d be the first to give them up if I thought they were to blame for what was going on around here. But the King’s wilder decisions don’t always align with their ideas about things. It seems like someone else is turning the knife.”

“Who could it be?” I asked.
