Chapter 228
Nrowned.
He glanced at me again. “You are looking for the Legendary Warrior, right?”
“Yes,” I said. “But I only knew him as my teacher.”
“I’ll help you,” Ben said. “Whatever I can do. I’m totally on your side and at your service. You need only ask.”
“Thank you,” I told him, relieved to have more friends.
Grayson’s POV
I stood in shock as I tried to process all that I had just learned. Lillian was the one who had moved into that cottage on the outskirts of town, and those children – Madison and Alex – had been hers.
A familiar ache in my chest returned with more force intensity than usual. The hurt from the miscarriage, the loss of our child, added with the knowledge that Lillian had moved on so quickly. Had the match that produced those children been one of love? Or had Lillian simply tried to find comfort in the arms of another?
Neither was a satisfactory answer, especially because, during our time together, Lillian had only opened herself to me fully after we had committed ourselves to our love.
That I could have been replaced so quickly…
I closed my eyes and exhaled hard. I couldn’t focus on this as I was doing. Whoever the father was, he wasn’t here with Lillian and the children. Either they were separated or… I didn’t know the circumstances.
But if he wasn’t here, and they weren’t together, then –
“She really knows how to make an unwelcome entrance, doesn’t she?” Odette said, breaking through my thoughts.
I opened my eyes and looked at her. Her arms were crossed, her bottom lip pouty.
