Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 244

Chapter 244

Nucked in Madison as Grayson tucked in Alex, then we each moved to the other child to make sure they were properly tucked in. After, we quietly left the room.

All the while, my heart ached. Grayson was such a good man, he would be such an amazing father.

Was I doing the right thing by keeping it secret? I’d done what I had to do to protect my children and Grayson, and the need for that hadn’t changed. But.

I continued to hold my tongue.

Grayson walked to the door, then turned back. “Goodnight, Lily,” he said.

All I wanted to do was ask him to stay, to be a part of this family – which was exactly the reason why he had to

leave.

“Goodnight, Grayson,” I said, and he was gone.

Grayson’s POV

After saying goodnight to Lily, the walk back to my own room was long and lonely. Already, I felt a fatherly connection with those kids, but I was trying to squash that feeling as it was so useless. Whatever I felt didn’t change the facts that those children weren’t mine, and that when Lily finished her duty here, they would all leave again.

More than almost anything, I wished I could have Lily and the kids forever at my side, but mores o, I wanted Lily to have anything she wanted, even if she wanted to leave me.

I had made a mistake in the past, trying to force her to stay, and because of that she sneaked away and didn’t contact me for five years. I wouldn’t make that mistake again. Even when she would leave again, I wanted to make sure that the line of contact stayed open.

The next morning, as I headed toward my office, I noticed a lot of movement in and out of the doors to the throne room. Curious, and more than a little concerned, I tucked my head in the door. The Queen was there, surrounded by servants and a few members of the court. The servants were taking notes to the directions she was giving, as she gestured around the room. The court members were nodding sagely.

As I approached, I realized she was making plans for Lily’s banquet, but the directions she was giving were lavish.

“Gold trim on everything. And only the finest silks. As for the food, I want those shrimp cocktails. But only the shrimps that I like, the ones from that small village.”
