Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 282

Chapter 282

Lillian’s POV

Grayson must have heard my gasp, because he turned to look at me.

“Would you like to come with me to the palace to see her?” he asked.

“Yes,” I insisted.

Grayson nodded. “We will leave after breakfast, when the kids are settled with the tutor.”

Working around the kids’ schedule was such a courteous thing to do. A small detail, but one that meant a lot to me, so I didn’t have to leave without making sure the kids were set for the day. Gratitude and affection surged within me.

I pushed down on it, trying to not allow it to show on my face. My relationship with Grayson remained complicated. I didn’t yet want to let him know how much he affected me.

“Thank you,” I said, because that was the least I could say.

After the kids were settled with Tutor Stephen and enough guards were in place to protect them while we were gone, I went with Grayson to the palace. By now, I had become accustomed to the long routes we took for our protection and anonymity. We couldn’t let anyone follow our route, connecting us to the mansion where my children were finally safe.

Or, as safe as they could be.

We didn’t talk much. Grayson seemed lost in thought, and I was still thinking about all that had happened with my father’s death and the dream with my Teacher. We sat side by side, with Grayson driving and me in the passenger seat, but he looked straight and head. I looked off to the side.

When we pulled in front of the car, we both exited, wordlessly coming together near the door. We walked in together.

We were told by the servants that Josephine was already in the throne room for a small welcome ceremony. As we approached, we saw that this truly was a small party, with only the King and Queen, and some of Josie’s friends from the court present.

Josie was in the center of the group. Turning toward us, she saw Grayson first and shrieked with delight. She moved through others, rushing toward her brother, and threw her arms around him.

“I’ve missed you so much!” she said with delight, smiling and laughing. “They told me you were staying somewhere outside of the palace and I couldn’t believe it! I was so worried! I’m glad you’re okay!” She hugged him tightly, then pulled back. “It’s so good to see you.”

“And you,” Grayson said, holding her arms.
