Chapter 299

Lilian’s POV

The punch seemed to bring everyone else in the room out of their frozen stupors. I was grabbed and yanked back from Odette. I fought against them, eager to break away, to get back to the fight.

Only when Prime Beta stepped in front of me did I stop long enough to conle to my senses.

“We have to go,” he said. “Now.”

He did not wait for any form of acknowledgement. Instead, he grabbed me by the arm and dragged me out of the room. I went willingly, refocusing.

Pummeling Odette was satisfying but not what Grayson needed most right now. He needed me to keep my head, to push through the anger and the fear, and to find him.

“He’s gone,” I told Prime Beta. “They did something. Odette and the Queen…”

“He was taken,” Prime Beta said through gritted teeth. “He’s with the bears.”

That had been my fear, what Odette gloated about. But to hear it from Prime Beta made it seem much more real.

“I have to go after them,” I said, finally finding clarity. “I have to stop them.”

“I thought you might say that. I’ve already sent word to the mansion to add extra protection to the children. I’ve also sent a message to Prince Reginald.

“He suspected the Queen might betray him,” I said. With all that happened, it seemed silly to try to keep it a

secret now.

“And she has,” Prime Beta said. “From what I could discern, the terms of the deal were the prince to spare the kingdom from the war. There was no mention of the Lycan Kingdom.”

“The Queen is going to leave them to their fate.”

“Yes, and without fulfilling the alliance we made with them.”

“They don’t have enough soldiers to hold the bears off forever. They’ll be overrun without this kingdom’s support,” I said. “Does the Queen really think the bears will stop then? That they won’t continue to push forward? They’ll hold this deal until it no longer benefits them. Then, once the Lycan Kingdom falls, they’ll come for this one.”

“The Queen was never meant to be leader,” Prime Beta said. “She has no foresight beyond her own clasp at power. She believes keeping this kingdom out of the war will benefit her popularity, and maybe it will, for a time, but popularity won’t matter when the bears show up at our doorstep.”
