Chapter 305
Grayson’s POV-

Eventually the advisors and King left the tent again and I was left alone in the early hours. From the sounds of snoring, many of the bears had fallen asleep by now, but there was still enough chatter and drunken singing for me to know escape would be difficult, even if I was able to break my bars and sneak out of here.
I had a life to get back to, a family. I hated the thought of Lily and the kids being unprotected. Odette had done this to me, but she wouldn’t have been able to do it on her own. The Queen was the one who had organized the visit with the ‘ambassador.’ Likely, she had been the one behind all this. I had to get back to my kingdom before she tore it apart with me finally out of the way.
And the kids. Madison. Alex. They could be mine. We were still waiting on the test results.
Truly, it didn’t fully mattered if they shared my blood or not, I already thought of them as my children, and Lily as
my mate.
I couldn’t leave them, not like this. I had to get back to them.
The Bear King likely wanted to have my execution be the final nail in the coffin of my people’s morale. A loss so devastating that it would crush their spirits and make them even easier to overtake. They had no idea what such an action would actually cause.
My death wouldn’t cause my people to give up, but the opposite. They would rally, fighting even harder than they previously would have, for the cause of vengeance.
Yet, even knowing that, I wasn’t going to just give up and die, not even to inspire my people. I had too much to live for to give up.
So I kept trying to break the collar, knowing that would make my escape so easy. Even if I could bend the bars of the cage, I wouldn’t be able to make it far before being overrun by the bear warriors.
I tried to break the collar, with my free hands, and even by using the bars of the cage to try to get some leverage. Nothing worked. It wouldn’t budge.
Too soon, the morning light started to creep up through the night, visible even through the canvas walls of the
tent.
Too soon, the warriors came and walked to my cage.
“It’s time,” one of them said.
“Don’t make this difficult,” said another.
They opened the door to the cage, and grabbed me, yanked me from it and onto my feet. They were going to leave me to the execution block, and to my death.
Lillian’s POV
Clara and I followed Barry and John into the bear war camp. With so many people, as John predicted, no one even looked at us twice. We weren’t thought of, blending entire in. Though, admittedly, predawn as it was, most of the bears were sleeping. Some early risers were starting to wake. A few were still drinking from the night before.
The camp was huge, much bigger than that of the wolves, and seemed to go on forever.
The talk among those awake was all the same.

“Did you hear we caught a wolf prince? They’re going to execute him at dawn.”
That’s soon,” said another. “Come on, I want to get a good spot.”
The pair stood up. They weren’t the only ones.
“The tent is this way,” Barry said, and had us take a turn. We barely went a few feet in the new direction when he . stopped us, cursing.
“What is it?” I asked.
John looked around. “We’re too late.”
“They’re moving him,” Barry said. “We need to get to the execution block. If we can intercept them, we might have a chance at a rescue.”
With fresh urgency in our steps, we changed directions, but the farther we went, the less people seemed to be.
“Are you sure this is the right way?” I asked. With how the others were talking, everyone wanted to be at the execution. Why would they suddenly change their minds?
Everyone else had a similar thought, and slowed.
Clara reached out to a passing bear. “Excuse me. Isn’t this where they are executing that wolf prince?”
