Chapter 319

Lulian’s POV

“If you think I’m going anywhere, you are out of your mind,” I told him fiercely. “After all this, you think I’d just abandon you?”

He swallowed thickly, but I could see the burning hope in his eyes. He might be trying to push us away, but it was plain as day to me that he wanted us to stay. He tried so hard to be selfless, I wasn’t going to let him get away with

“We are a team now,” I said. “We fight together. I’m not going to abandon you to fight alone.”

“But the kids -”

“Are safe in this mansion,” I said. “How would I even get them out? Those guards are likely still patrolling the border. I could send a message to Reggie, but too much movement from his warriors could spark another war. No We are safe here, and until and unless that changes, we aren’t risking a move. Especially when you need us so badly.”

Relief washed over his face, making him look younger. “I am fortunate to have you in my life.”

“My motives aren’t entirely selfless,” I said. “I just need you to be okay.”

“Oh? And why is that?”

My cheeks burned hot. “You know why…”

“Do I?” he asked, playful now.

I tried to turn my face away, but he reached up, touched my cheek, and coaxed me into facing him again.

“Do I?” he asked again, much, much softer.

“You do,” I whispered back.

A hint of a smile crossed his lips. He leaned in, and I didn’t pull away, eagerly awaiting the press of his lips to

mine.

It was the middle of the day. The servants were busy working, the kids were in their tutoring. No one was paying us any attention, and even if they were, I was quickly lost to the feel of Grayson’s lips on mine and the warmth of his strong arms around me.

As the kiss ended, I realized I didn’t want it to. Not by a longshot.

“Lily,” he said, his desire like a growl in his voice. “If I were to suggest we go back to my room, lock the door, and

“Yes,” I said earnestly, the word of consent flooding out of me with a wanton lust that made me tremble. We hadn’t made love since before Grayson faced the Bear King, when I was worried I might have lost him. Now he was here, he was well and whole again.

I needed to see him, to feel him, to know that he was okay. That we were together.

Our relationship was flawed, broken and not complete. But that didn’t matter right now. What I wanted was the feel of his body to mine, to forget about everything for a while but him and me.

In a flash, he swooped me into his arms. Holding me in a bridal carry, he moved toward the stairs, then up to his

room. We entered and he closed and locked the door behind us. He moved to the bed and gently laid me down onto

I held onto his shoulders, pulling him down with me. We met in another kiss and fresh heat ignited inside of me. I didn’t want to let him go, so I didn’t. He smiled against my lips as he moved into the open space between my thighs, becoming more comfortable.

When the kiss broke, he lifted himself only slightly to pull his shirt over his head and toss it aside. My gaze immediately dropped to the endless plane of muscles on display. I placed my hands on his abs, feeling the ridges and dips. He was all man, so utterly masculine, that my body was on fire with lust, wanting not just to feel him over me, but inside of me.
