155 Your Ners
Dora was stunned by the scene before her. She glanced again at the hourglass and timer beneath the tree, but still couldn’t figure out what was going on.
Is this my imaginary space?’ Dora wondered.
After all that trouble, Dora was so exhausted that she withdrew her consciousness from the Spatial Realm and, feeling groggy, curled up on the sofa and drifted off to sleep.
A faint sound of rain drifted in from outside the window. Late at night, the wet season had finially arrived.
The endless drizzle from the past few days was just the opening act, the real catastrophe kicked off at three in the morning.
The humidity shot up to 98%, and gray-green pollution particles swirled visibly in the air like mist, carrying a sharp. corroded metal smell.
Countless tiny mutated parasites wriggled in the rain, so small they were nearly invisible, but they still managed to make ripples on the pale blue glow of the protective shield.
They swarmed across the shield’s surface, writhing and gnawing, desperately hunting for any gap they could invade.
Clive woke up at three in the morning.
He wasn’t woken up by any noise, the house’s soundproofing and protective systems were first-rate.
Clive’s eyes scanned the ceiling in the dim light, and his shadow-type supernatural ability flowed like liquid mercury, reaching into every nook and cranny of the house.
The protective shield was trembling slightly.
He got up and walked silently to the window.
The pale blue protective shield outside was ramping up automatically.
He’d programmed it ahead of time to kick up its strength in response to severe pollution.
But he still wasn’t at ease, so he pulled on his jacket and headed to the control room.
The protective shield was operating normally, and the crystal energy reserves were sufficient.
He increased the shield’s protection level, and the pale blue glow deepened to a rich blue. The parasites clinging to its surface were instantly purified, dissolving into wisps of black smoke.
The door and window sealing systems were operating normally, the air circulation and filtration system was functioning properly, and the waterproofing in the underground cabin was in good condition.
Everything was normal.
After finishing all that, he didn’t go back to his own room.
Instead, he turned and headed for the third floor.
The door to Dora’s room was locked tight.
Clive stood in front of the door for a moment, listening to the faint, steady breathing coming from inside.
His shadow-type supernatural ability could slip right through the door.

The whole house’s security system couldn’t keep him out
‘Should I go in… or not? Clive wondered.
‘She did say, Nobody’s Allowed To Bother Me Tonight, he remembered.
‘But what if she’s scared?
‘What if those mutant bugs make too much noise and wake her up?
What if… The thought lingered in his mind.
Clive’s gaze grew more intense.
He triggered his shadow-type supernatural ability, his body slipping into the shadows, fluid as water, and in a blink, he was inside the room.
The room was warm and dry, with the air circulation system humming softly in the background.
The curtains were pulled tightly shut, leaving just a sliver for the protective shield’s deep blue light to filter through.
Then he saw her.
Dora was curled up in a small ball on the sofa, only a thin blanket draped over her, sleeping fitfully.
Her brows were slightly furrowed, and one finger clung to the edge of the sofa cushion, as if she were resisting something even in her sleep.
Her other hand was still holding something.
Clive stepped closer and saw it was a light gold crystal ore, its glow already faded, like some of its energy had been drained.
“Come on…” he muttered, his brows furrowing.
‘What if she catches a cold sleeping on the couch like this?
‘And what if something happens because she didn’t put the crystal ore away first?’ Clive worried.
But any blame he felt faded away into resignation as he looked at her peaceful sleeping face.
He quietly walked over and gently picked her up in his arms.
In her sleep, Dora let out a soft hum, but didn’t wake. She instinctively nestled closer to him, drawn to his warmth.
She settled into a more comfortable spot, and her frown eased.
Clive froze for a moment, his heart missing a beat.
Dora instinctively nestled closer, and his whole heart completely softened.
He gently laid her down on the bed, pulled the blanket over her, and was about to get up.
But then, a small, delicate hand reached out and grabbed the corner of his shirt.
Dora frowned in her sleep, as if she could sense the warmth slipping away.
Outside, a sudden clap of thunder boomed.
She gave a small shiver, her grip on his shirt tightening.

Chapter 133
Clive looked down at her.
Her brows knit together, lashes fluttering, like she was caught in a restless dream.
#55 var her
‘Can she really sense all that anxiety from the wet season and those mutant bugs, even while she’s asleep? Clive wondered.
He hesitated for a moment.
Then he slipped off his jacket and quietly settled in beside her.
Dora instantly snuggled up to him the moment he lay down.
She wrapped her arms around his waist, nuzzled into his chest, and let out a soft, satisfied hum.
She clung to him like an octopus, holding on tight.
Soft warmth and her gentle fragrance wrapped around him.
Clive’s body tensed for a moment.
He looked down, her head was tucked just beneath his chin, her hair carrying that subtle scent that was hers alone.
Her breathing was steady and light, each breath softly tickling his chest through the thin fabric of her pajamas.
He swallowed hard, his gaze dropping to her.
Dora looked so peaceful in her sleep, her brows relaxed, lips curving up just a little, like she was having a sweet dream.
But her fingers were still clutching his shirt, as if she was afraid he might slip away.
Clive hesitated for a few seconds, then finally lay down and gently gathered her into his arms.
Just for a bit.
I’ll get up once she’s sound asleep, he thought.
That was what he kept telling himself.
Dora wriggled in his arms, burrowing in until she found the perfect spot, and soon her breathing was soft and steady.
Clive lowered his head and placed the lightest, feather-soft kiss on her forehead.
The sound of the rain outside was shut out by the protective shield, making the room warm and quiet.
Clive closed his eyes and pulled her closer.
Just for a bit.
‘Really, just for a bit, he insisted to himself.
