Chapter 139
Felix cleared his throat, his gaze darting around awkwardly, not knowing where to settle
Mindy kept her head down, sipping her coffee, her ears red it looked ike they might bleed
Dora glanced from one to the other, absolutely delighted inside
She knew these two all too well.
Mindy’s shyness was real.
But the way Mindy looked at Felix just now, that lingering glance, was definitely real.
Felix’s awkwardness was real.
And the way Felix couldn’t help but let his eyes linger on Mindy for those extra seconds? That was real, too.
There was definitely something going on between these two.

Knowing better than to push, Dora smoothly changed the subject. “Felix, now that the wet seasorr’s just started, is everyone at home busy?”
Felix let out a sigh of relief and quickly replied, “It’s not too bad.
Dad and George have been mostly checking out the training zone for anything unusual, so they’re hardly ever home these lays.
By the way, did you guys run into anything weird when you left/Zone 32?”
With the conversation shifting to business, the mood finally felt normal again.
Mindy looked up, listening intently.
Dora gave a quick rundown of what happened in Zone 32, but of course, she kept quiet about the crystal ore and the Starvein Blueberries they’d found.
Felix’s brow furrowed once he’d heard her out.
The military already knows about the restricted area being breached and the female abductions, Felix sad
But they still haven’t gotten to the bottom of who’s really pulling the strings behind all this.
You guys should lay low for now and try not to go out unless you have to.”
Dora nodded.
Felix lingered for a bit before finally getting up to say goodbye.
Right before heading out, he couldn’t help sneaking another glance at Mindy
Just then, Mindy looked up, and their eyes locked for a second.
They both instantly looked away, almost in sync.

Hora Saw it all, and the smile tugging at her lips was impossible to hide.
After Felix left. Mindy shot Dora a fire glare “Dora! You totally did that on purpose
Dora just shrugged innocently, “I didn’t do anything”
“I was just asking.”
“Just asking? Then why did he blush so hard?” Mindy retorted.
‘Oh? So how do you know he was blushing?” Dora shot back, zeroing in on the key point “Were you watching him?
Mindy was totally stunned, lost for words.
Dora burst out laughing, nearly doubled over.
Mindy, flustered and embarrassed, pretended to smack her.
The two besties were soon rolling around the living room, giggling and play-fighting.
After Mindy left, the living room went quiet.
Dora curled up on the couch, holding a cup of coffee that Seven had just brewed for her, her smile still lingering from all the aughter earlier.
Clive stepped out from the shadows by the stairs and took a seat next to her.
Outside, the rain kept pouring, and every so often, a mutant bug or mutated alien beast would thump against the protective barrier. But inside, it was warm and dry, with the cozy scent of coffee drifting around.
Clive didn’t say anything, just sat there quietly, his eyes watching the gray-green rain outside. He looked like he was deep in hought.
Dora noticed the change in his mood and turned to him. “What’s wrong?”
Clive stayed silent for a few seconds, then spoke up.
‘I heard about Mindy leveling up.”
Dora blinked, waiting for him to continue.
‘She leveled up because she finally had enough crystal energy food. Once her beast mates were back in good shape she leveled up right along with them,” Clive said.
His voice was neutral, but Dora could pick up the emotion hidden underneath.
“Milo’s been matched with Mindy for years, but he only leveled up just recently, Clive added.
Dora nodded, beginning to understand what was on his mind.
Clive turned to her, and in his eyes, she caught a rare, complex expression.
There was hesitation, anticipation, and something deeper, something she couldn’t quite put her finger on
“Dora, I want to discuss something with you,” Clive said.

Fig aheal Dora said
Clive took a deep breath, as if he was carefully choosing his words
Il vouche
“There are a lot of brothers in the Blackflame Trading Guild who, like me, come from Plane Ashen-III. he said
Dora was familiar with Planet Ashen-III.
It was one of the most barren planets in the interstellar, with barely any resources and a hostile environment.
Abandoned orphans, beastfolk outcasts, and folks who had nowhere else to turn, all of them were forced to wrape by just rying to survive.
Most of them waited for government relief that was barely a trickle, almost nothing af all.
Are they all orphans?” Dora asked quietly.
Clive nodded. “Me too. I was one of them.”
A faint emotion flickered in his eyes before he quickly hid it. “I was abandoned on Planet Ashen-III as a child, survived by cavenging trash and hunting low-level mutated alien beasts.
Later… when I finally had the means, I went back and helped them get out, one after another.”
He didn’t explain what exactly happened after that, but Dora could imagine it.
A kid who crawled out of Planet Ashen-III and rose to become the Emperor of the Dark Web, there was no way that journey vasn’t paid for in blood.
None of us from there had any family backing or resources. Surviving meant fighting for every scrap, relying only on ourselves,” Clive said, his voice low.
Some of my brothers managed, by sheer luck, to get matched with a female, but even then, their mates weren’t high-level.” e added.
Dora understood.
Even though the interstellar matching system claimed to be “fair,” in practice, high-level females tended to choose high- evel males with family background and resources.
1 For orphans from the Planet Ashen-III, just being matched with a female was already considered lucky they couldn’t even dream of being matched with a high-level one.
Without enough crystal energy food, it’s almost impossible for males to level up.” Clive said, his eyes hixed on her deep and
intense.
He paused, his gaze softening with a hint of earnestness. “Milo is the perfect example.
“He and Mindy have been matched for years, but he was stuck at Level 3 for so long.
“It wasn’t until Mindy got those seeds from you and started growing enough crystal energy food that he finally leveled up
and settled at Level 4.”
Dora thought of Milo’s calm, steady face, and how he always looked out for Mindy. She got it now.
