Chapter 5 Were You Drugged?

The shock instantly blew away every trace of sleepiness.

Dora shot upright and grabbed the blanket, wrapping it tightly around herself. She cursed inwardly, Where the hell did this pervert come from? Did he just take advantage of me?

Fear and instinctive rejection made her words come out sharp and messy. WWho the hell are you? Where did you pervert come from? Why are you in my room?

She rubbed hard at her lips, her face full of disgust and regret over the kiss just now. She shouted, Get out! Get away from me! Disappear right now, or I’m calling the police! The moment the words left her mouth, she saw the bright, burning light in Clive’s eyes get crushed by her reaction. It shattered and dimmed in an instant.

Clive froze in place. Dora’s horrified expression, the disbelief on her face, and those harsh words pinned him there.

The way Dora looked at him right now held nothing but shock, confusion, and disgust. Dora grabbed a pillow beside her and hurled it at him. Tears gathered in her eyes as she pointed at him with trembling fingers and screamed, Get lost! Don’t ever show up in front of me again, or I’ll do everything I can to kill you!

Her disgust and merciless words smashed Clive’s pride to pieces. The burning feelings that had only begun growing inside him were damped down.

In an instant, Clive’s rational mind returned. He realized that all her warmth and care before had been for the snake, not for a beastfolk like him.

At that moment, he looked ridiculous, pathetically full of himself. To her, he was nothing but a shameless pervert.

Dora’s scream quickly alerted her family. Within seconds, the entire mansion lit up. Her father and brothers all rushed toward her room in panic.

Hearing the chaotic footsteps getting closer, Clive said nothing more.

He only looked at Dora one last time. That look was so complicated that even years later, Dora still felt a chill in her chest whenever she recalled it.

Clive said to her before turning away, Dora, my name is Clive Blackthorne. Don’t call me snake anymore.

The next second, his figure melted into the shadows of the room and vanished without a sound.

The window slightly rattled, then he was gone.

Only then did Dora realize the beautiful male who had suddenly appeared in her room

was actually the snake she’d saved, and his name was Clive.

For the past four years, ever since that kiss, every word Dora had said and every disgusted expression she’d shown him had stabbed into his heart again and again, burning against his pride. He’d thought those wounds had long since scarred over, and he’d forgotten them.

But now, her burning body unconsciously pressed against him, her fingers tightly clutched his clothes, and her soft lips called his name in a dazed, intimate voice.

All of it looked far too much like the female who had once saved him with her warmth. Those memories clashed against the image of the proud, beautiful female in his mind, the same female whose face had once been filled with contempt for him.

The collision nearly tore apart his selfcontrol. Dark emotions surged wildly in Clive’s eyes.

Dora seemed to sense the sudden stiffness in his body and the coldness spreading from him. She struggled to stay conscious and force herself to calm down, but the drug inside her kept eating away at her reason little by little.

Her body, along with her instincts, didn’t reject Clive at all. If anything, she desperately wanted to get closer to him, as if she’d been waiting for this for a long time.

She whimpered and pushed herself deeper into his arms. Clive’s solid, exposed chest was the only relief she could find.

So hotI feel awful,” she mumbled. Clive, help me.”

Clive’s Adam’s apple bobbed hard. His voice was low and rough, his emotion impossible to read. Were you drugged?

YeahDora bit down hard on her lower lip, trying to stay awake through the pain. Her voice carried a pleading edge. Can youput me in ice water?

r

Clive replied, For the drug so strong, ice water won’t help you.

He reached out and brushed the burning skin at her neck with his cool fingertips. Dora shuddered violently. The icy touch brought a little of her reason back, enough for her to properly look at the man in front of her.

He was handsome in a dangerous way, sharp and aggressive, wrapped in a gloomy vibe. He had high brow bones and a straight nose. His thin lips pressed tightly. Right now, those deep eyes were fixed on her.

Then suddenly, something in her memory cracked open. The complicated look Clive had given her four years ago flashed through her mind again.

Dora’s heart skipped hard upon seeing his eyes.

She forced herself to stay calm despite the heat eating away at her mind. She asked,

CCan you get a doctor for me?

Clive’s voice stayed calm and low. There’s no time. At the rate you’re going, your psychic power will collapse before the doctor gets here.

Dora panted, her eyes gradually losing focus. Then you

Clive’s throat moved again. His desire for Dora was burning through his selfcontrol. He closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, the violent darkness inside had been forcefully buried beneath suffocating coldness.

His gaze darkened as if he’d made some kind of decision.

This time, he stopped trying to pry her hands off him. He also stopped resisting when she pressed herself against him.

Instead, he used more force, peeling her fingers completely away from his shirt and pinning her hands back at her sides.

The movement was clean and decisive, carrying a faint trace of rough dominance.

Look carefully,he repeated, his voice rougher than before. Dora, look clearly at who’s holding you right now.

Outside the window, dim light illuminated half of his cold, sharp face. Dora struggled to open her blurry eyes. Her lips, swollen red from biting them too hard, trembled as she softly said his name, Clive

Hearing his name leave her lips again, Clive looked clearly overjoyed. He looked down at her hazy, desirefilled eyes. Those eyes that once held nothing but disdain for him now shimmered with haze and longing for him.

You want me to help you deal with the drug?asked Clive.

A painful pleasure mixed with something dark and deep spread wildly through his

chest.

MmhDora whimpered softly. Her pink lips parted as she instinctively leaned toward him.
