Chapter 63 Hard Choices
A short while later, Elmer was the first to emerge after showering, already dressed in soft loungewear. He poked his head out cautiously, his bright eyes fixed on Dora
“Dora,” he called in a gentle voice, the mattress in my room is super soft. I even set up some calming aromatherapy for you.” While speaking, he casually adjusted the collar of his lounge shirt, exposing a smooth stretch of collarbone with very deliberate accidental timing.
At that exact moment, Lioren burst out of his room and bounded straight toward Dora in a few quick steps before landing in her arms.
His amber eyes stayed locked on her face as he let out an unhappy little rumble, clearly displeased by Elmer’s shameless behavior. But despite the attitude, the tips of his ears had already flushed red.
Then Clive stepped out as well.
He was wearing a black silk robe that made his skin look even colder and more striking. His damp hair still carried traces of moisture from the shower, and the clean, crisp scent lingered around him as he leaned against the doorway with practiced
ease.
In an instant, the atmosphere circled right back to the same question everyone had been avoiding all night: where, exactly, Dora was supposed to sleep tonight.
The moment Mindy saw the scene unfolding in front of her, she nearly failed to hold back her laughter.
Dora stood up and faced the three males, all of whom were watching her a little too intently. A mischievous glint suddenly appeared in her eyes, and she gave them a teasing blink.
“Come here.” She crooked a finger at them and headed toward the table in the center of the living room.
Though none of them knew what she was up to, they still followed obediently.
With a flick of her hand, the crystal cores they had collected that day appeared from her Spatial Realm one after another, spilling across the tabletop in a dazzling pile.
Soft light shimmered from the crystal cores, and the dense energy radiating from them instantly filled the room.
Dora patted the pile lightly and smiled. “Alright, here’s your assignment for tonight: absorb crystal cores and work on your strength.”
She looked at Clive first. “You just advanced to Level Five, so this is the perfect chance to stabilize it and try pushing higher. “Today’s haul included two Level-5 cores, a lightning-type and a shadow-type. Both are yours. I’ll throw in a Level-4 core too. “Lioren, you get the other Level-5 core, plus two Level-4 ones. Let’s see if you can break through to Level 5 tonight “Elmer, you burned through the most energy today, so you need recovery the most. The remaining five Level-4 cores are all yours.”
T After a brief pause, Dora looked around at the three males, whose expressions had all turned subtly bewildered, and calmly announced her final decision.
“So here’s the plan. Clive and Elmer, you two go back to your rooms and absorb your crystal cores. As for Lioren…. The moment his name was mentioned, Lioren immediately dropped the cold, proud attitude he’d been putting on. His amber eyes lit up instantly, sparkling with the same hopeful excitement Elmer had shown earlier.
“You can stay in the living room and absorb yours,” Dora finished mercilessly. “That way the extra room stays free, because Mindy and I are sleeping together tonight.”
Lioren’s face fell on the spot. His tail lashed once in obvious annoyance before he snatched up his crystal cores in his mouth and stalked off to the side, flopping down with his back pointed squarely at Dora in silent protest.
Beside her, Mindy had been watching the entire performance unfold like it was live entertainment Dora shipped her arm through hers, and the two exchanged an amused look.
“We’re staying up for girl talk tonight,” Dora announced cheerfully
As far as she was concerned, the arrangement was perfect.
Clive studied the unmistakable satisfaction shining in Dora’s eyes, along with the stubborn certainty that made it clear she had no intention of changing her mind. After a moment of duence he finally let out a faint chuckle
Without arguing further, he bent down, picked out the two Level 5 crystal cores along with one Level 4 core from the pile. then turned and headed back to his room.

Elmer, meanwhile, was admittedly a little disappointed that he wouldn’t get to stay with Dora. Still, the thought that she was Werried about him and specifically wanted him to recover properly with the crystal cores quickly lifted his mood again. Grinning happily to himself, he gathered up his five Level-4 crystal cures and returned to his room in high spirits. Mindy also distributed crystal cures to her beast mates, instructing them to stay in their rooms and focus on absorbing them while she spent the night with Dora.
Her beast mates were completely blindsided by the outcome. One by one, they stood there frozen in place, crystal cores still in hand.
Dora and Mindy nearly laughed out loud at the sight. “Come on,” Dora said, tugging Mindy along. “Let’s get some sleep. We need to be at our best tomorrow if we’re going to take first place.”
Arm in arm, the two girls disappeared into the remaining bedroom and shut the door behind them.
Soon, quiet laughter and hushed conversation drifted from inside as they chatted late into the night about the day’s battles, the crops growing in the Spatial Realm, and the challenges that might be waiting for them tomorrow.
At the same time, the atmosphere inside Cassian’s team suite had sunk into a suffocating gloom, with tension simmering so heavily it felt ready to ignite at any moment.
After surviving the day’s battle by the narrowest margin and witnessing Cassian’s selfish actions firsthand, the team members saw their morale hit rock bottom.
More than half the team had openly stated they wanted to drop out, and the injured members, still recovering from their wounds, were ready to throw in the towel entirely.
“Cassian, this isn’t about disrespecting you. We genuinely can’t keep doing this.”
“Our crystal energy is completely drained, and our injuries still haven’t healed properly. If we go back out there tomorrow, we’ re dead.”
“We already pushed ourselves to the limit today. Nobody wants to risk their life for this.”
The room was filled with pale, worn-out faces and expressions stripped of their former enthusiasm. More importantly, the way they looked at Cassian had changed completely. The respect and admiration they once carried were gone, leaving behind only frustration, disappointment, and quiet resentment,
Cassian’s face turned livid. Anger surged through him, but beneath it was a growing sense of panic he couldn’t suppress If the team broke apart now, losing the competition would be the least of his problems. His reputation would be ruined along with it.
Unable to handle the situation on his own, he immediately contacted his mother.
After hearing the full explanation, Regina remained silent for several seconds, calmly weighing the situation before making her decision.
“The team cannot fall apart right now,” she said decisively.
“I’ll bring in a top-tier healing-type supernatural ability user tonight and have every injured member treated immediately. Their condition can’t affect tomorrow’s competition.
“I’ll also send over a supply of high-grade nutrient drinks and energy supplements.
“Tell the team members to contact their mothers and prepare enough crystal-energy food for tomorrow as well.
“And make sure they understand this clearly,” Regina added. “As long as they stay through tomorrow’s match, the Shawn family will compensate them generously afterward, no matter what ranking they end up with.”
With Regina backing him financially, the knot of anxiety in Cassian’s chest finally loosened a little.
After the two finished discussing the situation, Regina immediately began pulling strings through the Shawn family’s network.
Spending a staggering amount of starcoins, she urgently hired a high-ranking healing-type supernatural ability user from outside the competition grounds to treat the injured team members and stabilize their conditions as quickly as possible. At the same time, Regina gave Cassian a blunt warning: if he wanted to keep the team from falling apart, words alone wouldn’t be enough. He needed to offer them real benefits.
Forced into a corner, Cassian could only grit his teeth and take out every crystal core the tearn had obtained that day for redistribution.
Their total harvest amounted to one Level-5 crystal core, two Level-4 crystal cores, four Level 3 crystal cores four Level 2
