Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1803

"Mom, Mom, I thought you said we were going to play cards?" Milka tried to pull Leah's hand to get out of the car.

To her surprise, Leah firmly shoved her daughter-in-law back inside. "Gambling is a terrible habit! I have to set a good example and stamp out these toxic entertainment trends. You and Mars, uh, just go home and get some rest!"

Leah slammed the car door and practically skipped home, muttering excitedly to herself, "A grandchild is on the way!"

Milka watched her thrilled mother-in-law through the window before turning to her smug husband. "Could you watch what you say in public?"

"Aside from talking dirty to you in bed, I haven't said anything inappropriate out loud, have I?"

Milka thought about how Mars had acted the previous night, her cheeks heating up. What he said in public technically wasn't wrong, but the implications were undeniable, even if she couldn't pinpoint a specific flaw.

"Drop me off at the office. I've taken too much time off lately, and I don't want them using it against me."

"Why wouldn't you let me come into your office?"

Milka rolled her eyes. "Childish. Only kids who lose fights need their parents to back them up. I'm an adult. Besides, did I lose?"

Driving with one hand, Mars brought up an embarrassing childhood story. "Whenever you got bullied back in the day, I was the one who marched into your class to throw my weight around. Your classmates ended up reporting me to the teachers, claiming an older kid was picking on the younger ones. The school even called Roberto in. After decades in the military, he just marched into the school and kicked me right in the tailbone without a word. I was bedridden for days."

Milka remembered those days perfectly. "And didn't I sit by your bed every day, feeding you and putting ointment on your bruises?"

"If you actually treated me like that today, you'd be truly heartless."
