“One.” Jason’s voice rang out, calm and unbothered, cutting through the jeers of the crowd.
“Two.”
Ryan Lambert, also known as Ratty Ray, smirked, reclining in his seat with a smug expression.
“Three.”
The moment the word left Jason’s lips, Seraphina surged forward like a flash of lightning. Although she believed she was fast, the chaos that erupted around her was faster.
Bang!
The nearest lackey flew backward, slamming into a table with a sickening crash. The mocking laughter in the room died instantly, replaced by shock and confusion.
Jason and Seraphina moved with deadly precision–every strike swift and calculated. By the time Ryan realized what was happening, three of his lackeys were already writhing on the ground.
“Get them!” Ryan bellowed, his voice echoing through the warehouse.
His lackeys swarmed forward and wielded knives, pipes, and whatever weapons they could find, charging with reckless aggression.
Ryan stayed back, leaning against his chair with an air of arrogance. “Don’t overdo it. No killing -I want them alive. They’ve got cash to cough up,” he called out. He thought, I can’t let them die before squeezing the money out of them.
Yet, the tide began to turn as the fight dragged on.
A minute passed. Then another.
By the time fifteen minutes had gone by, the warehouse was littered with bodies. Most of Ryan’s lackeys were out cold or groaning in pain.
D*mn it! These two are no joke! Ryan’s smirk faltered as the last man standing collapsed at his feet, coughing up blood that splattered onto his shoes.
Ryan’s pulse quickened as Jason and Seraphina approached, their presence overwhelming. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small slingshot, held it up, and aimed it shakily at the duo.
“Don’t move! Another step, and I’ll blow your heads off. Let’s see you dodge a bullet!” he barked, his voice trembling.
Jason raised an eyebrow, unfazed. With a simple wave of his hand, the warehouse seemed to
come alive.
Dozens of figures stepped out of the shadows, clad in black combat gear and armed with slingshots. They moved in unison, surrounding Ryan with practiced precision. One of them stepped forward and aimed directly at Ryan’s head.
Ryan froze, his confidence shattering as he realized just how outmatched he was. His legs trembled, and for the first time, fear seeped into his expression. He thought, This isn’t a fight— it’s a carefully staged display of power. I wouldn’t have dared to push back if he’d shown this earlier.
Unbeknownst to him, he was merely a pawn in their game–a convenient target, nothing more than a punching bag for someone to release their fury.
Who are they? Are they part of a special unit? No… their aura doesn’t match. Seraphina’s gaze shifted to the newcomers, suspicion flickering in her eyes before she turned to Jason for answers.
Ryan’s slingshot hit the floor with a hollow clink as he dropped to his knees, his bravado wholly
gone.
“Please… I’m sorry. I made a mistake!” he stammered, desperation dripping from his voice. Whatever pride he had left meant nothing in the face of survival. Yet, deep down, he still had no idea what he’d done wrong.
“Mistake?” Seraphina’s voice was icy, her eyes narrowing as she bent to pick up a knife from the ground. She stepped closer, her tone cutting through the tension like a blade. “Do you even know what you did wrong?”
Ryan shook his head, panic evident in his eyes. How would I know?! I don’t even know who you are! he thought, his mind racing.
Forcing a shaky smile, he pleaded, “Just tell me what I did wrong. Whatever it is, I’ll fix it—I swear!”
Seraphina didn’t bother answering. She slammed the blade into his palm, driving it straight through the center.
“Ahh!” Ryan’s scream filled the warehouse, his voice raw with agony.
He tried to move, but a cold slingshot pressed against the back of his head, rooting him in place. He was entirely at their mercy.
“Why did you kill him?” Seraphina’s voice trembled with rage,
Before Ryan could muster a response, she yanked the knife out of his palm and drove it into the other.

“Ahh!” Ryan crumpled to the floor, his body convulsing from the pain. He curled into a fetal position, cold sweat soaking his clothes as he struggled to breathe.
