The Abandoned Heiress Reborn to Be Cherished (Seraphina) novel Chapter 269

r 269 Terrified Ratty Ray

Why?!Seraphina’s bloodshot eyes burned with an unrelenting mix of hatred and pain as she twisted the knife in her hand, pulling it free, bringing flesh and blood with it.

He was so young! Why did you have to be so cruel to him? Why? He had his whole life ahead of him!

Her gaze grew more feral, her expression unhinged. The knife rose and fell, each strike fueled by the overwhelming hatred that consumed her.

Suddenly, her bloodstained hand was gripped tightly. She glared at Jason, her eyes silently accusing him of stopping her.

Jason calmly pried the knife from her trembling fingers. Don’t let him taint your hands. He’s not worth it.

Ratty Ray lay sprawled on the ground, his arms and body riddled with bloody wounds, looking just like Sebastian had. He stared at Seraphina’s frenzied figure in terror. If not for Jason’s

intervention, he would’ve been dead by now. Even so, his current state left little to be optimistic aboutif he didn’t get his wounds treated, he would bleed out.

Help me! I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Did you mistake me for someone else?Ratty Ray stammered, though inside, he seethed with resentment.

Mistake you?!

The fire in Seraphina’s eyes reignited, burning hotter than before. It was clear Ratty Ray didn’t care at all about Sebastian’s death.

Dock. Warehouse Eight.” Seraphina spat out the words, her tone icy and sharp.

Ratty Ray’s body stiffened as the memory surfaced. He remembered nowthe rascal who didn’t know his place. The kid’s father had sold him off, making him Ratty Ray’s property to deal with as he pleased. The boy audaciously fought back, so Ratty Ray punished him, but little did he know how fragile the rascal was, dying just like that.

Inwardly, Ratty Ray scoffed, feeling no remorse. What was one rat from the gutter worth, anyway? It wasn’t the first time he’d gone too far while discipliningsomeone. This time, he’d just been unlucky to run into someone with connections.

Ratty Ray suppressed his true thoughts and instead put on a pitiful expression. That kidI only told my men to rough him up a little. I didn’t know they’d go that far. It’s my fault. I’ll make sure those responsible pay for what they did. I swear, I’ll bring justice for his soul.

His feigned sincerity did nothing to soften Seraphina’s icy glare.

Jason gave a subtle gesture, and two tall men stepped forward, grabbing Ratty Ray by the arms.

What are you doing?!Ratty Ray yelled, panic overtaking him.

The men worked swiftly, tying him up and suspending him high in the air.

I was wrong! Please, spare me!Ratty Ray cried, his voice breaking as he dangled helplessly. It was me! I’m the one who did it!

Jason turned his gaze to the trembling lackeys sprawled across the floor. They were too terrified by the scene to make a sound.

A man in camouflage brought in a crate of arrows, placing it in the center of the room.

Want to leave?he asked coldly, addressing the lackeys. Hit him, and you can go.

The group exchanged panicked glances, none daring to move.

If you don’t want to participate, you can join him.He pointed at Ratty Ray, still swinging in the air.

Above, Ratty Ray shivered uncontrollably, his face twisted in terror. I’m your boss! I’m your boss!he screamed, his voice cracking.

The man in camouflage ignored him, beginning a countdown.
