Her husband rolled his eyes at her skepticism and lowered his voice. “You don’t get it. That guy has no money, but the Whitewood Family does. If we all pin the blame on them and he serves as a witness, stirring up enough trouble will make it difficult for the Whitewood Family to distance themselves from this.”

“Will that even work?” the woman asked, skeptical. How were they going to justify their behavior without concrete proof?

The man explained further, “Something similar happened a few years back. There wasn’t any solid evidence then, either. But when the uproar grew big enough, the other party had no choice but to pay compensation just to quiet things down.”

The middle–aged woman was astonished. Lowering her voice, she asked, “So they’re planning to do the same thing now?”

Her husband nodded. “Exactly. We just need to stick to the crowd and not draw attention to ourselves.”

The couple whispered back and forth as they followed the growing mob.

At the main entrance of the Whitewood Group, a large crowd gathered, shouting demands for repayment. The unexpected commotion startled the security guards, who immediately reported the situation to management.

“What did you say? People demanding repayment?” Oberon looked utterly baffled.

The PR manager, equally confused, repeated the report. “They’re claiming that the Whitewood Group, under the name ‘Stock Whiz,’ swindled them out of approximately one hundred million. They’re blocking the entrance, demanding an explanation.”

“What nonsense is this? Stock Whiz? A hundred million?” Oberon asked, completely perplexed. “Go figure out what’s going on right now!”

Twenty minutes later, the entire company was abuzz with the news. Some senior executives even recognized the lead accuser as a relative of their chairman’s wife.

When Oberon learned this, his blood pressure spiked. “Rowan claimed that the Whitewood Group told him to scam these people?! Tell them there’s absolutely no such thing!”

“Mr. Whitewood, that might not work,” the PR manager said cautiously. “The accusers are insisting that ‘Stock Whiz‘ is Miss Seraphina and that Mr. Kennedy was merely her frontman.”

Even if Oberon had been slow on the uptake, he now understood the situation. Rowan had caused this disaster and was now trying to drag the Whitewood Group–and Seraphina–down with him. It wasn’t hard to see why he’d chosen her as the scapegoat.

When she saw that Rowan had pinned all the blame on her and the Whitewood Group, she wasn’t the least bit surprised. After all, it was as exactly she had predicted.

Seraphina sent out a single instruction, then put her phone away and refocused on class, unbothered by the chaos unfolding outside.
