93 The Price Goes Up
“Alright.”
After hanging up the phone, Seraphina turned and made her way back.
Fimated
With the help of the detective agency, Seraphina had managed to gather the contact details of everyone who had fallen victim to the investment scam. She arranged to meet them all at a tea house.
That afternoon, the entire tea house had been reserved by Seraphina. As the investors received the notice, they arrived one by one. Once they gathered and saw each other, an air of confusion settled among them.
“You got the notice, too?” one of them asked.
“Yeah, did you all get the notice?” another responded.
“Everyone got it,” someone else confirmed.
“Do you think what that person said on the phone is true?” a third investor asked, his voice tinged with doubt.
“I’m not sure,” came the hesitant reply.
“Not everyone showed up,” one muttered, glancing at the empty seats.
“I wasn’t planning to come, but I figured I’d check it out. If it’s true, maybe I can recover some of my losses.”
Most of those who had come shared similar thoughts.
As they exchanged whispers, none could spot the person they had been waiting for.
“Are we being played here? Why hasn’t the person shown up yet?” one of them asked, growing frustrated.
“I knew it didn’t sound right,” another murmured.
Just as the group began to lose hope and was ready to leave, the door to the tea house suddenly opened. Seraphina entered, walking with purpose. As she approached, she met their suspicious, scrutinizing gazes without flinching, her expression calm and collected.
“Please, take a seat,” she said, her voice steady. “I’m the one who called you all here. The reason I asked you to come is simple: I want to buy the stocks you hold.”
“You’re really going to buy our stocks?” one of the investors asked, his voice laced with doubt.
“Yes,” Seraphina replied, her tone unwavering.
A sense of caution spread like a ripple through the room.
These stocks were virtually worthless, trapped in an inescapable pit. Why would Seraphina want them?
“What’s your aim?” one investor asked, his voice tinged with suspicion.
Seraphina calmly pulled out a document and placed it on the table. “All you need to do is sign here, and I’ll

buy your stocks.”
The document passed from hand to hand, and as it made its way around the room, the investors‘ expressions shifted. Slowly, they began to grasp the full scope of her intentions.
“You want to free Rowan,” one of them finally spoke, piecing the puzzle together.
Finished
Seraphina nodded, her gaze unwavering. “When you decided to invest with him, it was a mutual agreement. Whether he intentionally deceived you or not, you all know the truth in your hearts. Now, I’m offering to return the money in exchange for his release. It’s a fair deal.”
Some of the investors immediately agreed, their eyes lighting up with the possibility of recovering their losses. After all, keeping Rowan locked up wasn’t benefiting anyone. What mattered to them was the money.
But, as always, there were those who were driven by greed.
“I don’t agree,” a middle–aged man interjected. “You can buy the stocks, but you’ll need to add an extra ten percent. Otherwise, I won’t sign.”
An extra ten percent meant that for every hundred million, she’d have to pay an additional ten million. If this trend took hold, the worthless stocks could end up fetching two or even three hundred million.
As one person raised the price, the others who had been leaning toward signing fell silent.
This unspoken understanding among the investors was almost impressive.
Seraphina’s gaze swept over the room, calm and collected. “Are all of you making the same decision?”
The room grew deathly silent. The tension was thick, heavy in the air.
The middle–aged man who had spoken earlier chuckled lightly. “Our money has been tied up for so long. Surely, you’ll give us some interest. Isn’t that reasonable? If you want us to sign, you’ll need to show some sincerity. You can’t expect us to sell at the original price.”
Seraphina’s gaze flicked over the crowd, her expression unreadable. She stood up, her posture straightening with an air of finality. “Well then, keep your stocks and enjoy your lives.”
With that, she turned on her heel, her departure swift and decisive.
“Take it or leave it,” she said, her voice steady. “If you don’t want to sell, that’s fine with me.”
The investors were left in stunned silence. They had never expected her to walk away so resolutely, without a moment’s hesitation, without even the slightest negotiation.
Isn’t business supposed to involve some back–and–forth? How could she simply leave like that?
